At Gulf Gate Church, our vision is “Igniting passion for God in Sarasota that blazes into compassion for all people of the world.”

We believe worship plays a vital role in fulfilling this vision. As people encounter the truth of God's Word, grow in their understanding of His character, and respond to Him in worship, their love for God deepens—fueling a life of discipleship, service, and gospel witness.

We're looking for a pastor who shares our vision and is excited to help lead Gulf Gate into its next season of ministry—joining our pastoral team to cultivate vibrant worship, equip new leaders, and help our congregation grow in its love for God and others.

Gulf Gate is a growing evangelical church in Sarasota, Florida, averaging approximately 275 in weekly attendance. With a new facility and the possibility of moving to two Sunday services, we're excited about the opportunities ahead to strengthen our ministries and reach more people with the gospel.

The Opportunity

Lead and Develop Our Worship Ministry

At Gulf Gate, we value vibrant, contemporary congregational worship that is grounded in Scripture, rich in biblical truth, and centered on Christ. We want our worship to engage both hearts and minds, deepening our understanding of God and stirring our love for Him.

You'll have the opportunity to help shape the next season of worship at Gulf Gate—building on an established ministry while bringing fresh ideas, developing leaders, and strengthening the theological depth, creativity, and musical excellence of our worship gatherings.

Working with our preaching team, you'll help plan fresh, meaningful services that use music, Scripture, prayer, and creative elements to illuminate biblical truth and inspire heartfelt worship. You'll thoughtfully select and introduce songs—including contemporary worship music and hymns expressed in fresh ways—that help our congregation sing the truths of our faith with understanding and conviction.

You'll also recruit, equip, and develop musicians, vocalists, worship leaders, and technical teams, cultivating a spiritually healthy worship ministry prepared for continued growth.

Equip Our Congregation to Care for Others

While worship leadership will be your primary responsibility, you'll also help strengthen our congregational care ministry. As part of our pastoral team, you'll help lead and equip deacons, deaconesses, and other volunteers to provide compassionate care for people facing illness, loss, and other needs—helping our church grow in its commitment to love and serve one another.

Preach and Shepherd God's People

You'll have opportunities to use your gifts beyond music leadership—preaching God's Word approximately six times a year, shepherding people, and helping cultivate a congregation shaped by Scripture and growing in its worship of God. We value faithful, gospel-centered preaching that deepens our knowledge of God and inspires a life of worship and obedience.

Who We're Looking For

We're seeking a pastor who:

• Loves Christ, His Word, and His church, and meets the biblical qualifications for pastoral leadership.

• Is a gifted and experienced worship leader with strong musical ability, theological depth, and a heart for leading people in vibrant, Christ-centered congregational worship.

• Is a skilled team builder and developer of leaders, able to direct a contemporary worship band, mentor musicians and vocalists, and equip worship and technical teams to serve with excellence, creativity, and unity.

• Is a capable biblical preacher with a genuine shepherd's heart and a commitment to gospel-centered, expository preaching.

• Enjoys equipping others for ministry, developing volunteers and encouraging others to use their gifts in service.

• Demonstrates initiative, humility, and relational wisdom, and works well as part of a collaborative pastoral team.

• Shares our theological convictions and ministry philosophy, including our commitment to the authority of Scripture, evangelism, discipleship, and missions.

An M.Div. or equivalent theological education is preferred.
