Central Baptist Church of Johnson City, TN, is seeking a full-time Interim Youth Pastor for immediate consideration. Ideal candidates will have at least a bachelor’s degree and experience leading youth activities, preferably as a Youth Pastor. The anticipated period of service will be from one to two years while the congregation searches for a Senior Pastor. The Interim Youth Pastor will be eligible to apply for the full-time Youth Pastor position at the discretion of the permanent Youth Pastor Search Committee. The candidate should have a high degree of biblical integrity and spiritual maturity, a strong knowledge of Scripture, and the ability to teach and communicate well with youth.
The position of Interim Youth Pastor includes:
· Minister, counsel, disciple, teach, and pray with students
· Involve students in church activities, mission, and outreach projects
· Oversee all programming events for middle school and high school students, coordinating with the ministry assistant and volunteers
· Disciple and mentor students in the development of their faith and lead them to greater spiritual maturity as followers of Christ
· Promote and facilitate intergenerational activities to involve the students with the entire church body
· Encourage, involve, and actively partner with parents to disciple and minister to their students
· Be available to counsel and pray with students and parents regarding spiritual matters
· Partner with CBC pastors, staff, and volunteer leadership to coordinate ministry to parents and families
· Help prepare and administer student ministry area budgets
· Assist in the selection of equipment, supplies, and biblically based education materials for Student Ministries
· As appropriate, assist, consult, and work with CBC committees and councils, and lead, consult, and/or work with leadership teams
· Assist with general staff duties and functions as directed by the Interim Senior Pastor
Central Baptist Church is a multigenerational downtown congregation of approximately 400 people, composed of a wide range of demographics (age, socio-economic status, music worship/style).
