Job Description:

Overview video from our Lead Pastor: HERE

The Grove Bible Chapel is a gospel-centered, Christ-exalting, disciplemaking church in the eastern communities of Tampa Bay. We are committed to expository preaching, intentional discipleship, and the joy and fruitfulness of abiding in Christ. We are serious about building intimate Christian friendships, serving the Lord with open hands, and training up the next generation of leaders. We are grateful for ministries such as The Master’s Seminary, 9Marks, and the Pillar Network, each of which has been a tremendous gift to our ministry.

Our corporate worship is predominantly contemporary, but we regularly include hymns. Our Sunday morning services generally start and end with live music with a full band. We celebrate communion monthly and have baptisms two to three times a year.

Each week, we have only 90 minutes with all our people gathered; these are precious moments that must be managed well. To prepare for this, you can expect multiple meetings per week with the Senior Pastor and the worship staff. These meetings will focus on evaluating the prior Sunday’s service and planning ahead.

We are a church with a church planting mindset….it’s all hands on deck for The King and the Cause! Our staff are all adaptable leaders with wide-ranging giftings and responsibilities, along with being convictionally committed disciplemakers. The Worship Director role will contain jobs outside the scope of Sunday morning services, based on the applicant’s capacity and experience. Examples could include assisting with facilities management or video and image creation. We would love for our Worship Director to have an established and growing passion for shepherding and either a history of developing leaders or a desire to be trained up as a leader of leaders!

Our Five Tenets of Worship:
1. Lift high the name of Jesus Christ (John 4:22-26; John 12:32; John 14:6).
2. Lead God’s people to lift their hearts and voices to Him, giving Him praise and thanks in music (Nehemiah 12:45-46; Psalm 66:1-4; Psalm 95:1-2).
3. Prepare hearts to hear the Lord speak through the proclamation of Scripture (Psalm 95:6-9; Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 2:41-42).
4. Integrate contemporary expressions while retaining traditional elements that recognize the richness of our heritage in the faith (Deuteronomy 32:7; Psalm 33:3; Isaiah 46:8-9; Matthew 13:32, Ephesians 5:19; Revelation 5:9).
5. Pursue excellence in worship, knowing that God is worthy of our best (Exodus 12; Deuteronomy 17:1; Psalm 33:3; 1 Timothy 4:14-15; Hebrews 11:4).

Passing the Mic: 8 Things Our Former Worship Director Learned Along the Way:
1 Prepare to be challenged and encouraged by your leadership.
2 Prepare to work with great musicians but more importantly, musicians that truly love to worship Christ.
3 Prepare to be hit hard by a singing church.
4 Prepare to work alongside an incredible staff that is unified & truly loves the Lord.
5 Prepare to be shepherded by elders who are true under-shepherds that love and care deeply for the flock - and your soul.
6 Prepare to work closely with the Senior Pastor, under his leadership, to evaluate existing ministries and plan for future ministry needs.
7 Prepare to be a part of a church that holds God’s Word high & filters everything we put in front of our people by that Word (songs, sermons, prayers, etc.)
8 Prepare to be in an incredible, dynamic community where you will feel at home.

Curious about where we serve the Lord? The Tampa Bay area is an exciting place for a church and a family. The area is expanding dramatically, and our church is positioned strategically for God’s glory to be broadcast His glory into the Eastern communities of Hillsborough County. St. Pete and Sarasota offer some of the world’s most beautiful beaches, we have some solid sports teams (not as much the Buccaneers this year) and Disney is a day’s trip, just over an hour away. Good coffee, shark teeth, diverse food, tons of sunshine, awesome parks, and hurricane season adventures. Those are all grace gifts, yet we think you will be most encouraged by and enjoy the people of our church beyond anything Florida as a state offers. Christ is building His church and we are thankful and proud of His work within Grove Bible!
