Job Description:
Berean Bible Church in Grand Island, Nebraska, is seeking a Lead Pastor to shepherd its congregation of approximately 85 weekly worshipers through the ministry of the Word, prayer, leadership development, and spiritual oversight. Grand Island is a regional hub of about 53,250 residents in central Nebraska, offering stable employment, a strong community identity, and a lower cost of living than Nebraska's larger metro areas.
About the Church
Berean Bible Church is a debt-free, single-campus congregation affiliated with the Berean Fellowship of Churches. The church is elder-led, holds to a dispensational theological framework, and takes a neither-Calvinist-nor-Arminian doctrinal approach it describes as grounded in the whole of Scripture. The congregation is warm, multigenerational, and eager to be led into deeper community engagement.
The Role
The Lead Pastor serves as a member of the Elder Board and works collaboratively within a plurality of elders. Primary responsibilities include:
Expository preaching approximately 45 Sundays per year
Diligent Scripture study and prayer
Identifying, mentoring, and developing emerging leaders including elders, deacons, and ministry leaders
Providing biblical counsel and pastoral care
Visiting the sick and homebound
Performing weddings and funerals
Collaborating with the Elder Board on vision and spiritual direction
Encouraging evangelism and outreach
Participating in Berean Fellowship of Churches activities for mutual accountability
Qualifications
The ideal candidate is an evangelical believer with personal faith in Jesus Christ, baptized by immersion, who affirms the Statements of Faith of the Berean Fellowship of Churches and Berean Bible Church. He meets the biblical qualifications for an elder as described in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9, demonstrates proven ability in expository preaching, teaching, and disciple-making, and possesses strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Formal biblical or theological training is preferred, ideally at the bachelor's or master's level.
If you are a passionate, biblically grounded leader with a heart for expository preaching, discipleship, and shepherding God’s people, Berean Bible Church in Grand Island, Nebraska, invites you to apply for its Lead Pastor position and help lead a warm, multigenerational congregation into its next season of spiritual growth and community impact.
