Creative Arts Pastor

First Christian Church of Champaign is a community striving to obediently follow Jesus by running hard after a culture of discipleship and disciple-making. Our heart is to see our people reaching the lost, raising up everyday disciples and releasing ordinary missionaries wherever they live, work, and play.

THE VISION FOR THE ROLE

With this aim in mind, we are looking for a Creative Arts Pastor who will come and cultivate a culture of modern worship and arts centered on the person of Jesus and the presence of the Holy Spirit that will sustain and empower God's call for us to be disciples who make disciples. We are praying for someone who will come in and honor the work that has been done in these areas and continue to build a thriving culture of encounter and response to the work of God in our church and community. We are looking for a skilled person with the heart and capabilities of a pastoral leader, competent in recruiting and empowering a team of gifting individuals, creating a community of volunteers, as well as a culture of worship and encounter that is focused on Jesus.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Someone who...

• has a deep and abiding relationship with Jesus and passion for His church

• is teachable, hungry, humble, and passionate about worship and discipleship

• has the heart of a pastor and is able to care spiritually for those they oversee

• has a proven ability to recruit, develop, and lead teams 

• has exceptional time management and organizational skills

• has a sensitivity to the Holy Spirit's role in planning and executing worship gatherings

• is a gifted worship leader and can lead with at least one instrument (preferably guitar or keys)

• has proven ability to provide musical direction to vocalists and instrumentalists

• will pursue excellence without becoming performance-driven

• has substantive creative arts/worship leadership experience

• has competencies in core worship and creative arts tools and resources (i.e. Planning Center, ProPresenter, etc.)

• has familiarity with and desire to assist with key areas of production alongside our part-time Production Director (i.e. stage setup and design, lighting, camera, livestream etc.)

PRIORITY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Plan and execute weekly worship gatherings that are Jesus-focused, Spirit-filled, formative, mission-minded, and free from distractions

• Build, develop, and oversee necessary teams to carry out the vision of the Creative Arts ministry

• Identify, develop, and empower other leaders to step into places of responsibility and need throughout the Creative Arts ministry so the ministry doesn't rise and fall on any one person

• Provide pastoral care, as well as opportunities for connection, community, and discipleship for the volunteers and leaders of your teams 

• Partner with our existing part-time production role to create an audio and visual environment conducive to worship

• Partner with our part-time admin support to schedule and communicate to volunteers and teams
