Job Description:
South Main Baptist Church in Pasadena, Texas, is seeking a full-time Children's Minister to lead and strengthen its ministry to elementary-age children and their families. A growing, debt-free Texas Baptist congregation of approximately 600 weekly worshipers, South Main is committed to an ongoing mission of engaging and equipping others to experience and share God's transforming love. The Children's Minister will be a key partner in the church's birth-through-graduation family discipleship pathway.
The Children's Minister will serve as the primary teacher and communicator for children, lead weekly classes and ministry gatherings with spiritual intentionality, and maintain safe, welcoming environments for children, families, and volunteers.
Additional responsibilities include:
Recruiting, training, and caring for adult volunteers
Selecting and implementing age-appropriate curriculum
Partnering with parents to support discipleship in the home
Planning events such as Vacation Bible School, Parents Night Out, Wacky Wednesdays, and seasonal gatherings
Welcoming and following up with new families
Collaborating with the Family Discipleship Coordinator, Youth Minister, pastoral staff, and other ministry partners
The ideal candidate is a devoted follower of Christ whose life reflects spiritual maturity, humility, and integrity. The candidate will be passionate about helping children encounter God's love in age-appropriate, creative, and formative ways, and deeply committed to partnering with parents as primary disciple-makers of their children. Organizational dependability, strong communication with children and adults, volunteer development skills, and a warm, hospitable presence are all essential qualities.
