Engagement & Resources Director

THE ROLE

The Engagement & Resources Director is a catalyst for movement. You will expand our capacity, so every person can belong, every volunteer can find their fit, and every resource can be aimed at the mission. We have a system full of potential. We are looking for a wise, experienced executor to unlock it.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

We gather faithfully so we can grow intentionally, and we grow intentionally so we can go missionally. This role helps our Sunday gathering serve as a launching pad for growing and going, through three pillars: Hospitality Culture, Volunteer Mobilization, and Resource Management.

1. Hospitality Culture

Every person matters, and most people are just one connection away from their next step. A welcoming culture isn’t an accident, so we have to intentionally cultivate it.

• Lead a connection culture that helps people encounter the gifts of Christian community

• Create clear next steps into serving and The Growth Track

• Recruit and develop leaders for our hospitality and Next Steps teams

• Use Planning Center as a system-wide tool for personal connections and invitations to serve

2. Volunteer Mobilization

Volunteers fuel the mission, and for most people new to Christ Community, serving is their best next step. This role champions serving across the church, equipping leaders to build strong cultures.

• Identify and mobilize people into serving teams, helping them find the right role for their gifts, passions, and capacity

• Make serving an easy first step for people new to our church, with clear pathways onto a team

• Champion a serving culture where every team gathers, grows, and goes together

• Equip staff and ministry leaders to lead healthy teams, including regular team huddles

• Develop a leadership pipeline that identifies and grows future leaders across every ministry

3. Resource Management

This role helps us take care of the gifts God has entrusted to us: staff, finances, property, and time. Every one of those gifts requires wise discernment and faithful leadership. We want to use every good gift for God’s greater purpose, inviting others to join in the movement as we go.

• Protect a healthy, relational culture as we grow

• Plant a culture of joy and generosity through clear communication and donor appreciation

• Work with deacon teams to oversee faithful use of finances and property

• Cast vision and support key volunteers through relational leadership

• Work with the Teaching Pastor to support, develop, and guide our staff and key volunteer leaders

SUCCESS IN THIS ROLE LOOKS LIKE

• First-time guests are welcomed, followed up with, and taking next steps onto the Growth Track

• Staff and ministry leaders feel empowered to lead healthy teams, and volunteers serve where they’re wired to serve, not just where the gaps are

• A growing bench of volunteer leaders runs teams without staff holding everything together

• Our building is ready, welcoming, and used in ways that launch people on mission

• Generosity grows because people catch the vision, not because they feel pressure

WHO YOU ARE

We’re looking for a disciple of Jesus who listens for the voice of God and obeys the will of God on the mission of God. We expect our leaders to be mature and maturing in faith, grounded in daily disciplines, and healthy and whole. This person will be:

• A natural connector. You remember names, notice who’s standing alone, introduce people who should know each other, and are willing to take the first step in hospitality.

• Solution oriented. You don’t stop at naming a problem. You find the fix and rally the right people.

• Organized, detailed, and determined. You build systems that make it easy for people to say yes, and you follow through.

• An executor. You turn vision into plans and plans into results.

• A leader of people. You have a track record of leading high-performance teams and real management and leadership experience.

• A developer of leaders. You equip others to lead rather than doing it all yourself.

WHO WE ARE

Christ Community Church is a growing, grace-filled congregation in the southwest suburbs of Chicago guiding our neighbors to a hope-filled future. Our vision is to see The Circle, the 15 or so communities around us, transformed by the hope of Jesus. We do that by Gathering Faithfully, Growing Intentionally, and Going Missionally. Our church is an aircraft carrier, not a cruise ship. We exist to equip, launch, and refuel people as they GO on mission in the places they already live, work, and play.

God has been moving among us. Our Sunday gathering is near capacity, we have 70+ people on our Growth Track, we opened a thrift center for our community in September, we hired a new Youth Director in July, and this fall 300+ people committed to the vision. That growth is a gift, and it’s why we need this role now: to make room for the people God keeps sending.

PAY AND BENEFITS

Your pay and benefits will be commensurate with your education and experience. This is a full-time, salaried position, with the flexibility of being part-time for the right situation.
