Our commitment to ministry extends beyond the church walls through service in Angelina County and partnerships with local, national, and international missions.

About the Position

Carpenter’s Way Church is seeking a Full-time Student Pastor with a clear calling to reach students, teach God’s Word, and help young people grow as followers of Jesus.

This person will lead 2nd Wind Student Ministry for grades 6–12, partnering with parents to encourage students in their faith. A central priority of this role is recruiting, developing, and equipping a strong adult volunteer team to build relationships with students and help lead the ministry. We’re looking for someone who loves students, understands their culture, and brings creativity, sound biblical teaching, and strong leadership to the ministry.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

• A growing relationship with God, a deep understanding of Scripture, and a Christlike example both inside and outside the church.

• Outstanding character and integrity, with agreement on the doctrine and vision of Carpenter’s Way Church.

• A clear calling to student ministry and a passion for reaching and discipling students.

• A balanced approach to ministry that includes evangelism, discipleship, relationships, service, and missions.

• The ability to teach biblical truth clearly and meaningfully without compromising Scripture.

• A passion and demonstrated ability to recruit, train, encourage, and equip adult volunteers, helping them take meaningful ownership of the ministry.

• The ability to identify and develop volunteer leaders, delegate responsibilities, and build a team that serves together.

• Strong communication and organizational skills, including proficiency with social media.

• Initiative, the ability to work without close supervision, and a teachable spirit.

An associate or bachelor’s degree in theology, biblical studies, youth ministry, ministry, missions, or a related field is preferred. Full-time vocational student ministry experience is also preferred. Candidates with part-time experience or who currently serve in volunteer leadership, discipleship, or teaching roles within student or college ministry will be considered.

Responsibilities

The Student Pastor will:

• Develop and carry out the vision for student ministry, including evangelism and discipleship.

• Make building a strong adult volunteer team a primary focus through ongoing recruitment, training, encouragement, and leadership development.

• Establish clear volunteer roles, delegate meaningful responsibilities, and provide regular support so volunteers are prepared and confident in serving students.

• Equip adult volunteers to build appropriate relationships with students, lead Bible studies, disciple students, and help carry out ministry activities.

• Oversee Sunday morning Bible study, 2nd Wind Wednesday nights, summer programming, camps, retreats, and trips.

• Serve as the primary teacher within the student ministry.

• Be actively involved in students’ lives and in the community, building appropriate relationships with students and their parents.

• Support and encourage parents, providing resources to help them guide their students spiritually.

• Communicate regularly with church staff, volunteers, parents, and students through personal contact, social media, C-Way Digital Media, email, and other appropriate channels.

• Encourage students to participate in other Carpenter’s Way ministries and mission opportunities.

• Maintain appropriate office hours for planning, administration, study, and preparation.

• Attend weekly staff meetings on Mondays.

The Student Pastor reports directly to the Executive Pastor.
