Title: Senior Pastor
Reports to: Official Board
Hours of Work: Full Time
Summary of Position
The Pastor is responsible for the oversight of the church body by providing spiritual instruction and strategic leadership to the congregation, staff, and ministries of the church. The Pastor is responsible, along with the assistance of the Deacons, to fulfill the mission and vision statements of the Lanark First Brethren Church.
Duties and Responsibilities
Plan and conduct worship services based on biblical truth, developing sermons, planning with the worship team, and leading in the observance of ordinances.
Leads the congregation in effective programs to fulfill the Great Commission with vision, purpose, and priority.
Alongside the Deacons, will provide for visitation and ministry to the congregation in homes, nursing care facilities, and hospitals.
Conducts counseling sessions, performs wedding ceremonies, and conducts funeral services.
Works with key leadership to carry out the mission and purpose of the church.
Cooperates with regional and national denominational leaders in matters of mutual interest and concern.
Serves to recommend and advise committees and teams as an ex-officio member.
Oversees, along with Deacons, all church discipline matters and the management of conflict issues in the church.
Communicates with the congregation through articles or announcements, written and spoken through bulletins, appropriate media, and worship services.
Maintains a vital and wholesome personal relationship with the Lord through daily Bible study, prayer, and mentorships.
Maintains proper priorities at home with his family.
Act as a member of the official board. Offer insights and oversight of the stewardship of the financial gifts of the church.
