Job Description:

If you want to lead every generation in worship and raise up the people who lead beside you, keep reading.

THE ROLE

The Worship Director leads and develops our worship ministry, helping every generation at Christ Community worship Jesus together, shepherding and growing the people who serve, and sending our church out refueled for mission. Sunday Worship will be about 70% of your work. The other 30% will be shaped around your gifts and calling, because we want you serving the whole church, not just one ministry.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Sunday is where our church gets refueled to go on mission. This role helps make that happen through three pillars: Sunday Worship, Team and Next-Generation Development, and Tech and Production.

1. Sunday Worship

We’re a multigenerational church, and we want everyone engaged. Worship that forms people doesn’t happen by accident, so we plan it with care.

  • Serve as our primary worship leader on Sundays and at special services

  • Plan services with the pastors so songs, Scripture, prayer, and the sermon work together

  • Be the creative force behind our services, dreaming up creative elements and pushing our worship gatherings forward

  • Choose songs that are theologically faithful and singable for every generation, blending the best of modern worship, hymns, and new expressions

  • Lead pastoral moments from the platform: a word of encouragement, a prayer, a Scripture reading

2. Team and Next-Generation Development

Our worship team is more than a band. They’re a team of disciples growing in faith and skill. The Worship Director serves as a spiritual leader, not just a musical artist. We want to be a church that develops the talent of our youth and raises up leaders for the future of the global church.

  • Recruit, train, schedule, and care for vocalists, musicians, and tech volunteers

  • Disciple your team as followers of Jesus, not just as musicians

  • Provide music and assistance for significant kids’ ministry moments

  • Partner with our Youth Director to build a student worship team

  • Develop a leadership pipeline so Sunday never depends on one person

  • Lead your team’s Sunday huddle so they Gather and Grow before they Go serve

3. Tech and Production

Good tech helps the congregation focus on Jesus. We want our tech tools to keep getting better.

  • Master our sound, slides, lighting, and livestream so they serve the gathering instead of distracting from it

  • Find and lead improvements to our livestream and sound, bringing your own expertise or going out and learning it

  • Train and support volunteers on the soundboard, ProPresenter, and livestream

  • Keep Planning Center up to date and steward the worship and production budget

WHO YOU ARE

We’re looking for a disciple of Jesus who listens for the voice of God and obeys the will of God on the mission of God. You’re mature and maturing in faith, grounded in daily disciplines, and healthy and whole. You are also:

  • A hustler. When something needs to get better, you go make it better.

  • A developer of people. You’d rather train three new leaders than be the best on the team.

  • A lover of the whole church. You value every generation and want them worshipping together.

  • A learner. If you don’t know how to improve something, you are humble and hungry enough to learn.

  • Organized and dependable. Schedules go out on time, charts are ready, and rehearsals are prepared, prayerful, and worth people’s time.

  • A team player. You’re glad to serve beyond your own ministry area.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience leading congregational worship, paid or volunteer

  • Strong vocals and the ability to lead a band from guitar or keys

  • The ability to blend music that connects the church in faithful worship

  • Working knowledge of live sound, ProPresenter, and livestreaming, or the drive to learn them fast

  • Alignment with the beliefs and mission of Christ Community Church

WHO WE ARE

Christ Community Church is a growing, grace-filled, multigenerational congregation in the southwest suburbs of Chicago guiding our neighbors to a hope-filled future. Our vision is to see The Circle, the 15 or so communities around us, transformed by the hope of Jesus. We do that by Gathering Faithfully, Growing Intentionally, and Going Missionally.

Our church is an aircraft carrier, not a cruise ship. We exist to equip, launch, and refuel people as they GO on mission in the places they already live, work, and play. Sunday worship is where that refueling happens, which is why this role matters so much to us.

Fit matters. Check out our website, YouTube page, and recent Vision series and ask yourself: Do I want to go where Christ Community is going? If the answer is “No,” it’s not a fit. Learn more about us at ccconbell.com.

PAY AND BENEFITS

Your pay and benefits will be commensurate with your education and experience. This is a full-time, salaried position.

HOW TO APPLY

Send your resume, a cover letter, and links to two or three videos of you leading congregational worship to jobs@ccconbell.com with “Worship Director” in the subject line.
