At First Baptist Church of Murphysboro (FBCMURPHY), we believe church is more than a place we gather on Sunday mornings. It's a family. A family where people of all ages and walks of life come together to worship Jesus, grow in God's Word, encourage one another, and share His love with our community.

We are a Bible-believing, Christ-centered congregation with a heart for people. From our youngest children to our oldest members, we value the relationships, wisdom, energy, and unique gifts that every generation brings to the church. We believe there is something beautiful about a church family that learns together, serves together, prays together, and walks through life's joys and challenges together.

We are prayerfully searching for a Senior Pastor who shares that heart.

We aren't simply looking for someone to fill a pulpit. We are looking for a shepherd who loves Jesus, loves people, and has a genuine desire to become part of our church family.

We desire a pastor who is deeply rooted in Scripture, passionate about preaching and teaching God's Word, and committed to helping people develop a growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Someone who can faithfully communicate biblical truth with both conviction and grace, while encouraging people to live out their faith in everyday life.

We are looking for a pastor who values relationships and understands that ministry happens both inside and outside the church walls. Someone who enjoys getting to know people, visiting with families, encouraging children and students, learning from older generations, walking alongside those who are hurting, and celebrating what God is doing in the lives of others.

At FBCMURPHY, we believe every generation matters, every person has a place, and everyone has something to contribute to the Kingdom of God. We want a pastor who will help us continue building bridges between generations, strengthening families, equipping believers, and creating opportunities for people to serve and grow together.

Our next pastor will also be a collaborative leader, working alongside our Leadership Team, staff, and dedicated volunteers to guide the church with humility, wisdom, prayer, and a shared vision for the future. We value a leader who listens well, leads with love, encourages others to use their God-given gifts, and recognizes that the church belongs to Jesus Christ.

We have a heart for Murphysboro and the surrounding communities, and we desire to be a church that doesn't just talk about God's love but actively demonstrates it. Through missions, outreach, discipleship, children's and student ministries, small groups, and caring for those in need, we want to continue making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Above all, we are seeking a pastor who will love God, love His Word, and love His people.

We know that no pastor is perfect, just as no church is perfect. But we believe that when people come together with a shared love for Jesus, a commitment to biblical truth, and a willingness to extend grace to one another, God can do incredible things.
