Job Description:
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY
The Lead Pastor’s responsibility is to serve as the primary teaching Elder, and to take significant leadership in administering the ministry of the church in partnership with the Elders.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Meet the qualifications for an Elder found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9.
2. Endorse the Crossroads Community Church Statement of Faith.
3. Be an ordained minister or be willing to pursue ordination upon employment.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Preaching and Teaching – As his primary responsibility, the lead pastor shall:
• Preach weekly during the Sunday morning worship service.
• Administrate the preaching schedule with other pastors on staff.
• Teach as necessary, desired, or appropriate to the needs of the church.
• Preach at and officiate wedding and funeral services.
• Intentionally work to build up other Elders in the areas of preaching and teaching.
• Oversee and or administer Bible ordinances (Baptism and the Lord’s Supper).
RESPONSIBILITIES: Pastoral Care – In conjunction with the Elders, the Lead Pastor shall:
• Use his teaching and preaching ministry as the foundation for shepherding and discipleship ministry.
• Champion local evangelism and global missions support.
• Maintain contact with church members and attenders for the purpose of shepherding and prayer.
• Visit home-bound and convalescing members as necessary, in conjunction with the Elders.
• Perform pastoral and biblical counseling services when requested or as necessary.
• Lead the church in hospitality ministry by example.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Administration – The Lead Pastor shall:
• Conduct weekly staff meetings.
• Report monthly to the Elders.
• Participate in planning and scheduling ministry events throughout the year.
• Assist the Elders in vision-casting and strategic planning for the church’s ministry.
• Assign various tasks to other staff and/or Elders as necessary or appropriate.
• Represent the church to the community.
