Lead Pastor

Here’s a life-changing opportunity to live in Germany, minister in English, lead a dynamic growing church, and make an eternal difference in the lives of this generation and the next!  Waypoint Christian Church is asking God to provide the right person to be the lead pastor.  The new lead pastor must love Jesus passionately and have the vision and skills to develop an ethnically and culturally diverse ministry to expats, internationals, and German nationals that is authentic, biblical, relational, and eternally significant.

The new senior pastor will have evangelical theology aligned with the doctrinal statement of Waypoint Christian Church and have a passion and proven track record of leading a disciple-making church with a clear vision and effective strategies.

Initial Filter Criteria.

1. An Evangelical Protestant in belief.
2. Must have an education level that has a minimum of attending Seminary.
3. A male Pastor that has held a position as a Senior Teaching Pastor or Demonstrated Shepherd/teaching roles within the Church for at least 2 years.

Specific Areas of Responsibility Include:

1. Must be able to implement and be a champion of the vision of and mission of Waypoint.
2. Lead the development of strategies for making disciples in our diverse English-speaking community.
3. Lead, develop, and work in harmony with the pastoral and staff leadership team that is responsible for leading the ministry development of the church.
4. Oversee the logistics of a growing congregation, including communication, worship, budget, staff, and administration.
5. Develop the spiritual vitality of the congregation through teaching, pastoral care, administration, leadership, and outreach.
6. Continue to support and develop the church’s vital partnership with our association of English-speaking international churches throughout the world.
7. Lead, develop, and work in harmony with the elder leadership team that is responsible for governing the church.
8. Oversee and develop the preaching ministry of the church, utilizing a qualified preaching team.

Initial Qualifications: The Pastoral Candidate Must:

1. have pastoral experience with a proven track record of effective disciple-making resulting in a healthy, growing church.
2. have an understanding and track record of vision-driven leadership producing innovative and effective ministry through motivated and skilled staff and volunteers.
3. be an effective and authentic public communicator who teaches the Bible in a way that connects with a spiritually diverse congregation, from seasoned followers of Jesus to unconvinced agnostics.
4. be someone who loves people and exhibits winsome relational skills in a way that attracts and connects with a broad cross-section of people.
5. have a passion for, and proven record of, connecting people to Jesus.
6. possess a theological degree from an accredited, evangelical seminary.
7. have a passion and love for the military culture and community.

**If married with children at home, it would be recommended that the children be younger than 9 years old.  This is due to the need to put school-age children into the German education system. Home-schooling is not an option and English education is only available under very unique circumstances.
