Job Title: Small Groups and Formation Pastor

Employment Status: Exempt (Salary, FT)

Reports to: Lead Pastor

POSITION SUMMARY

The position is responsible for creating, managing, and executing the aspects of our church that make disciples and encourages Christian maturity, primarily for the adult demographic but also providing support and guidance for the ministries targeting those younger when needed. This includes coordinating small groups, leadership equipping and development, assisting in other ministry areas, and providing pastoral care. This pastor will be able to express and share the gospel clearly, and work well with LCC staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Small Groups Leaders Care and Development

• Cast vision, recruit new leaders and train via regular meetings

• Provide ongoing support and accountability for small group leaders (e.g. meetings, regular communication, annual appreciation events, etc.)

• Provide end of year feedback

Small Groups Management and Coordination

• Maintain an ongoing database of all open and closed groups

• Help start, multiply, and close small groups by identifying and assessing growth opportunities, geographical and demographic needs, and group health

• Visit groups for support and accountability

Discipleship Pathway at Lighthouse

• Oversee and teach Lighthouse 101-401 classes

Other Formational and Learning Opportunities

• Coordinate seasonal classes or seminars based on various topics (e.g. seminar on the role of women in the church and home, spiritual warfare, leading inductive Bible study, etc.)

• Make opportunities available for those needing support and accountability (e.g. Griefshare, men’s and women’s ministries, etc.)

• Help coordinate Alpha classes to provide discipleship opportunities for seekers and new believers

• Establish small group curriculum and provide supplementary materials as needed

• Review and help make available appropriate resources for individuals, groups, and main message series

General

• Develop and administer an annual budget for small groups and formation related ministries in accordance with the financial policies of the church

• General pastoral responsibilities include: being on duty at weekend services, performing weddings, funerals, communion, baptisms, pre-engagement/marital counseling, etc.

• Specific leadership responsibilities include: occasional weekend teaching, teaching various classes as needed, helping lead occasional missions trips, organizing staff retreats and conferences, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must agree to, support and uphold to LCC’s mission statement, guiding principles, and statement of faith

• Has made a commitment to be a member of the body of Christ at Lighthouse Christian Church

• A mature relationship with Jesus Christ that is clearly exhibited in the applicant’s life

• A pastoral heart and love for people

• Seminary degree or equivalent training in Biblical Studies or ministry related fi eld is required

• Strong oral and written communication skills

• Relational, with a friendly and approachable disposition

• Passionate about developing, equipping and propelling both individual leaders and teams
