Pastor Candidate Profile
Heights Community Church is seeking a full-time pastor. The individual must be able to shepherd our congregation with integrity, vision, spiritual maturity, and theological depth. They must be committed to basic Baptist beliefs and practices and have the interpersonal skills to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds and ages.
Based on a survey of our congregation done for the pastor search process, the following attributes and skills sets are either required or desired.
Minimal Qualifications
· A master’s degree from an accredited seminary or divinity school
· 3-5 years experience as a FT church staff member (student pastor, associate pastor, etc)
· Experience in preaching and worship leadership
Ideal Qualifications
· 5-10 years of experience as a pastor
· Demonstrated leadership in developing and implementing visionary goals for church growth and depth
Most important skill sets/attributes
· PRIMARY: effective, Bible-based preaching
· Personal spiritual and theological depth
· Ability to relate to the un-churched
· Pastoral leadership and counseling
· Discipleship and community engagement
The vacancy with HCC’s pastor position has occurred due to the retirement of our pastor after a 28-year tenure at HCC. Our pastor has chosen to remain in the position during the search process but is not involved in the candidate selection process. The position will remain vacant until filled.
