Director of Youth and Family Ministries

 

Purpose:

The Director of Youth and Family Ministries provides leadership and direction for a quality program of Christian nurture and education for children, youth and families. They shall desire that all grow in faith and service to Jesus Christ through Covenant Church.

Responsibilities {Including but not limited to}:

  • Build, coordinate, and implement a children’s Sunday morning program for both churched and unchurched families.
  • Direct or oversee VBS.
  • Recruit, train and equip adult volunteers for ongoing program ministries.
  • Lead Sunday evening Jr./Sr. High Ministries.
  • Plan summer mission activities both in the community and elsewhere.
  • Involve children and youth in outreach and service programs.
  • Connect with youth through activities outside of church, including pastoral care for individual and family.
  • Develop and prepare the budget for the Children and Youth Ministries.
  • Ensure that the Ministries is aligned with the mission and vision of Covenant Church.
  • Communicate and publish all activities/events through newsletters, bulletins, email, webpage and other social media as needed.
  • Anything else appropriately and reasonably assigned by the Head of Staff.

  

Qualifications:

The Director will have a growing relationship with Jesus Christ, as expressed by the Fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22-23. The Director will be able to articulate his/her personal faith in words, and lead a consistent faith-centered way of life. The Director will have education and/or experience teaching and working with children. The Director will have a teachable spirit. The Director will have a desire to nurture Christian faith in children and youth, as well as adult volunteers. The Director will have an    understanding of child development and age-appropriate learning skills.

 

Working Environment:

This position is 35+ hours per week with flexible hours. The fixed part of the schedule includes:

  • Sunday morning/evening
  • Wednesday {staff meeting in the morning}.
  • Fourth Thursday evening of the month {Session meeting  as needed}

 

Accountability:

The Director reports to the Senior Pastor/Head of Staff. Performance review will be conducted annually. The Director will be provided with a copy of the Covenant Church Personnel Policy as well as the Child Safety Policy. A background check is required for this position.

 

Salary package will be commensurate with experience.
