JOB SUMMARY

Recruit, organize, oversee, and equip members for excellence in ministry to, for, by and with youth in order to achieve the mission of First United Methodist Church, Bryan: to make disciples of Jesus Christ.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES FOR YOUTH (STUDENT) MINISTRIES:

  • Responsible for programming/studies/events during Sunday morning and evening meetings
  • Responsible for programming/studies/events during Wednesday meetings
  • Responsible for recruiting and training volunteers to assist in the ministry for all meetings
  • Develop and Implement a Youth Ministry Plan (update annually and provide to Senior Pastor)
  • Adhere to the Youth Ministry Plan and evaluate it as needed (see Youth Ministry Plan)
  • Oversee and lead the YMAC
  • Reach out to and involve youth/adults/parents to work and minister directly with the youth
  • Set goals with YMAC consistent with the church mission statement and Youth Ministry Plan
  • Train leaders, organize, administrate, develop, and coordinate members in ministries to involve them in missions/service, evangelism, fellowship, discipleship and worship
  • Develop a Resource Team – a team of adults who help acquire resources for youth ministry (transportation, food, supplies, etc.)
  • Coordinate all aspects of youth ministry with staff/other ministries to avoid overlap use of facilities (calendar planning)
  • Coordinate with the Director of Children and Family Ministries/clergy in all aspects of ministry
  • Plan, conduct and coordinate mission trips and special events (summer and other times)
  • Communicate (text, e-mail, social media) with all staff/parents/youth in a timely and professional manner
  • Manage a budget and follow church procedures in handling receipts/income/expenses
  • Keep clergy/staff informed about youth who make commitments to Christ and where they are gifted to serve
  • Track attendance and follow up quickly on youth not attending
  • All other duties as assigned within the area of youth ministries
