Worship Leader Position Summary:

This portfolio is full-time 40 hours/week and reports to the Worship Director.  At National Community Church (NCC) Worship Leader serves as the producer of weekend worship services and/or special programs.  Worship Leaders work with the Worship Director, Creative Team, and the respective Campus Pastor to set the theme and overall direction of weekend services.  The Worship Leader oversees and coordinates all of the planning and execution of service including building campus worship teams, scheduling music sets and singer/musician assignments and holding weekly Worship Team Rehearsals.

Worship Leaders must be visionaries, creative, detail-oriented, and skilled in leading and inspiring people and teams.  In addition, this position is pastoral and requires the incumbent to serve as a spiritual leader and guide to the people who serve in this ministry as well as attendees of their campus.


Choir Director Position Summary:

Choir Director serves as the producer of all NCC location worship choirs. The Choir Director works alongside Worship Director to select and prepare monthly music for choir Sundays. The Choir Director will lead a mid week rehearsal of combined DC location choirs. In addition, the Choir Director will provide pastoral leadership over volunteers that serve in the worship choirs and facilitate opportunities of community and connection to greater NCC Worship Ministry.


Main Responsibilities

  • Lead worship on weekly basis for Barracks Row Sunday Services

  • Lead a midweek rehearsal for this campus

  • Lead once a month for Saturday night service at Miracle Theatre

  • Assist in the musical and spiritual development of the worship team members (praying for, meeting with, recruiting members, development clinics, worship meetings,  etc)

  • Scheduling and managing bands for campuses under leadership

  • Offer creative energy for sermon series, retreats, videos, films (i.e, finding songs, writing new songs, composing instrumentals, etc.)

  • Partner with Worship Director in prayer, visioneering, and implementation of ideas and strategies to continuously cultivate and nurture a culture of worship at NCC

  • Assist in scheduling and organizing and implementation of worship events (i.e. Leadership Summits, DCWI, retreats, Deeper,  special services, development clinics/ social gatherings/ service projects, etc)

  • Assist in keeping Planning Center songs/ chord chart/ contact info updated

  • Standing in for administrative duties when admin is unavailable

  • Choir Director

    • Establish a yearly choir song bank

    • Provide leadership and coaching for campus choir directors

    • Create, record and upload to Planning Center Online, SATB harmonies for choir members to prepare for weekend songs.

    • Lead a monthly rehearsal to prepare DC location choirs

Weekly Services/Schedule

  • Approximate hours per week~ 40hrs (this may flex depending on the week)

  • Will have 3.5 office days at 7th Street office (Tuesdays, Thurs, Fridays 8hrs; Wed 5.5hrs)

    • Tuesday: 9am-5pm - Staff meeting, worship meeting, inter-departmental meeting

    • Wednesday: 3:30pm - 9pm - Personal rehearsal, preparation for team rehearsal and rehearsal with team

    • Thursday: 9am-5pm - Day to schedule meetings with team members, leaders, campus pastors and interdepartmental meetings. Connect and foster relationships with DMV worship leaders.

    • Friday: 9am - 5pm - Creative Friday. Morning writing session. Afternoon demos of new songs and rearranging current songs. Tracking vocal parts for choir songs.

    • Saturday: Once a month Barracks PM service 1:30pm-6:30pm

    • Sunday: Barracks Row 7am - 2:30pm - 3 services.

  • Lead 48 weekends out of the year.

    • Vacation weekends will be approved by Worship Director after it is determined all locations are covered for weekend services for dates requested off


  • Assist with instrument and vocal video auditions for all locations including application process, and checking references. Responsible for follow up one on one auditions of Barracks Row Sunday location

  • Oversee Global Team Nights once every three months (planning, organizing, executing)

  • In conjunction with Worship Director, foster relationships with local worship leaders serving as a bridge builder to promote churches and worship leaders.


Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Desire and passion to serve Christ in the local church

  • Excellent communication skills – verbal, visual, written, and relational

  • Must be able to lead from either guitar and/or piano.

  • Songwriting experience.

  • Flexibility to plan and work on multiple projects simultaneously; effectively manage time and prioritize workload

  • Be a great team player who thrives on providing timely, high–quality support; maintaining strong relationships with volunteers

  • To reflect Christ in your words and actions in your personal life and ministry. You will be looked up to as you model the Christian faith, and the way you live your life should reflect the Gospel (Living lives of holiness, purity, and free from addictions)
