Position Title: Minister of Students


Supervisor: Executive Pastor 


Principle Function: The Minister of Students will oversee all Middle School and High School related environments and activities.


General Summary: This role will communicate vision with clarity and provide spiritual leadership to students, leaders and parents. The Minister of Students exhibits a deep passion for and professional excellence in discipling students. This passion includes equipping parents to lead their children spiritually and morally. With good communication skills and goal-oriented curriculum, the Minister of Students develops and organizes key volunteers and leaders to greater effectiveness within the context of small groups on Wednesday nights and Life Groups on Sunday mornings.


Education/Experience: A bachelor’s degree is required for this role. Though a master’s degree from seminary or further theological training is not required, it is desirable for its ability to provide beneficial education and experiences that prepare one for a life given to vocational ministry. Must also have a minimum of five years experience serving in Student Ministry. 


Direct Reports: Student Admin Assistant and Student Ministry Interns 


Primary Responsibilities Include but are not Limited to:

  • Develop and execute a strategic plan for student and parent ministry in keeping with the overall mission of Taylors FBC
  • Recruit, develop, and deploy new volunteers towards the mission of Taylors FBC
  • Produce doctrinally sound, culturally relevant, and creative sermon series for UNITED (Wed PM Student Worship). Teach weekly at UNITED
  • Provide consistent communication with leaders and parents in written and verbal forms
  • Respects parents’ God-given role as their student’s primary spiritual authority and equips and encourages them to pursue their responsibility to make disciples in their home
  • Develop and implement a long-term vision and strategy for engaging and reaching the unreached (Evangelism) and developing them to become disciples who make disciples
  • Provide researched curriculum for Small Groups and Life Groups 
  • Oversee UNITED media team and band on Wednesday evenings
  • Follow-up with new guests weekly by sending personal notes and/or phone calls
  • Direct student ministry interns when they are at TFBC
  • Lead, direct, and encourage Student Ministry Assistant
  • Maintain student ministry budget along with submitting receipts and other financial records 
  • Assist in preparing and distributing communication pieces (print and electronic) to students, leaders, and/or parents 
  • Shepherd strong relationships with UNITED small group leaders, Life Group Leaders and other key volunteers
  • Ensures adult leaders and volunteers who serve regularly attend worship services and connect with an Equipping Community for personal spiritual development (i.e. Life Grp)
  • Lead occasional parent meetings to help cast vision as well as communicate upcoming events and calendar items
  • Pursues professional development via conferences, relevant literature, and connecting with other Student Ministers in the greater Greenville area
  • Initiate and facilitate school partnerships through teacher appreciation breakfasts, sports banquets, lunches for coaches/players, clubs, etc. 
  • Oversee a student-led leadership team to build and delegate ownership to current high school students
  • Respond to all assigned Ministerial Staff duties and responsibilities. (On-call, hospital visits, staff meetings, etc.)
  • Be an active member at Taylors FBC who participates in the life and ministries of the church
  • All other duties as assigned.

  • Have organizational skills along with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities at one time
  • Be a team player with a teachable spirit and a servant’s heart who is committed to the unity of the mission at Taylors FBC. Able to work cooperatively and respectfully with all members of the church staff
  • Easy-going personality, encouraging, and relates respectfully to students, leaders, and parents
  • Hold good computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Office, some knowledge or willingness to learn InDesign, Photoshop, ProPresenter, Planning Center)
  • Willing to take direction and meet short deadlines in a fast- paced environment
  • Possess good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Positive and optimistic attitude; willing to go the extra mile with students, parents, and leaders
