Job Summary

 

The Director of Music Ministries & Assimilation is responsible for building a music ministry that attracts musicians, creates gospel-centered and transformative worship environments and produces passionate followers of Jesus through the medium of music and the creative arts. They will also oversee AHCC’s assimilation of first time guests into fully devoted followers of Jesus.  

 

Duties and responsibilities

 

Below are the required responsibilities and duties of the Director of Music Ministries & Assimilation position:


Music Ministry

 

  • Work towards the mission of the church, in concert with the vision of the Board and Lead Pastor, and under the spiritual authority of the Elders
  • Create, coordinate and lead Sunday morning worship time
  • Invest in, develop and care for music team members both musically and spiritually
  • Provide clear, consistent and effective communication with band team members
  • Recruit, train, develop and deploy new members to the music team
  • Practice once a week with music team to prepare for the Sunday gathering and build relationships
  • Prepare as an individual for Sunday morning worship through planning, prayer, Scripture, etc.
  • Collaborate and plan with sound and projection teams
  • Incorporate a variety of worship mediums on Sunday morning (i.e. prayer, art, drama, dance, music style, Scripture, etc.)
  • Coordinate planning and logistical information with other church staff and leaders throughout the week
  • Contribute to the church’s music ministry webpage
  • Plan, organize and coordinate special seasonal worship events (i.e. Christmas, Easter, etc.)
  • Manage and administer music ministry budget
  • Update music ministry equipment or infrastructure as needed

 

Assimilation

  • Develop, implement and maintain an end-to-end assimilation strategy to take first-time guests into fully-committed followers of Jesus
  • Create strategies and systems to identify and develop individual’s giftings and abilities and connect to areas of ministry
  • Work in conjunction with the Senior Pastor to advance the mission, vision and strategy of AHCC community groups
  • Recruit, train and deploy new community group leaders
  • Lead, develop and coach existing community group leaders

Desired Areas of Ministry Growth

 

Below is a list of areas within the music ministry and assimilation structures we would like to see develop and grow. If all required duties listed above have been fulfilled during a week, the Director may work on the following projects:

 

  • Grow use of art in churches expression of worship both on Sunday mornings and throughout all ministry areas (i.e. painting, drawing, sculpting, film, photography, etc.)
  • Build additional band teams
  • Work towards engaging and connecting with the local community through arts and worship projects and programs
  • Build relationships with junior high and high school ministry and work towards incorporating this age group into Sunday worship service
  • Build relationships with children’s ministry and work with children’s ministry leaders to incorporate worship into selected ministry events
  • Develop a more robust volunteer management system
  • Enhance community group leader training

  • Strong musical and vocal skills
  • Proficiency in Music Production software required (EasyWorship, Planning Center Online, etc)
  • Effective leadership and team building abilities
  • Administrative ability to organize, plan and coordinate details of ministry area
  • Ability to think systematically and organizationally
  • Highly relational and encouraging to others
  • Excellent public communication and worship leading skills
  • Multi-generational exposure to songs of the church - past, present, and future
  • Ability to embrace and adhere to the mission, vision and strategy of AHCC
  • Functional knowledge of audio editing & AV equipment
  • Flexibility and creative thinking
  • Ability to grow and enhance teams, structures and systems
  • Passion for seeing transformation in the lives of musicians and the people of Seattle, WA
 
$22/hr. for 18 hours per week
