Mendham Hills Community Church is a vibrant, growing community of believers located in northern NJ. Demographically, we are primarily made up of families with young/school-age children, followed by young adults, and then people who are in retirement. Our focus is on transformation - for ourselves, as we become more like Christ, and for the approximately 92,962 people who live in the surrounding communities and don't know Him. Approximately 11 years ago we started a non-profit, Beyond the Walls, to reach and impact others on an national and international basis; through this organization, we have taken hundreds and hundreds of people on trips to serve both nationally and internationally, with a specific emphasis on the Guatemala City Dump. We have an upcoming opening for a student ministries pastor (6th-12th grades). Candidates must be licensed or licensable with the Christian & Missionary Alliance. Preference will be given to "multi-dimensional" candidates, i.e. those possessing multiple skill sets.








The Student Ministries Pastor is responsible for the leadership, development, direction and implementation of the vision, strategy and tactical elements for all programs and activities related to student ministry at Mendham Hills Community Church.

  •  Proven & demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to cast vision, build teams and develop leaders
  • Strong organizational, planning, administrative and communication skills, including multi-tasking, time management, prioritizing and attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer and technical competence in applicable areas
  • Solid interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain healthy and motivating relationships with MHCC leadership, staff and volunteers

  • Establish and maintain a philosophy and long-term strategy for ministry in alignment with MHCC’s overall strategy, vision and goals
  • Work collaboratively with the staff to ensure Student Ministries is contributing to the achievement of the overall vision and mission of MHCC
  • Bring student ministry visibility to the church as a whole on a regular basis
  • Develop and maintain a well-planned, balanced program throughout the year, coordinated with the MHCC calendar
  • Provide strategic leadership - vision, development, direction and management - and oversight for all aspects of student ministries, Junior High through Senior High (including, but not limited to, Sunday School, weekly youth group meetings, small Bible studies, summer activities, retreats and special events)
  • Recruit and build volunteer teams - set direction, organize, train and shepherd
  • Plan and conduct regular student ministry team meetings
  • Develop a communication plan and disseminate information to keep staff, volunteers and parents informed
  • Regularly contribute to the MHCC social media presence
  • Develop and maintain a strategy for assimilating new students and their families
  • Create, coordinate and communicate scheduling and staffing for all programs, activities and special events related to Student Ministries
  • Be accessible to volunteers and available to teach or assist when needed
  • Provide volunteers with all lessons, materials and resources needed to serve in their roles
  • Mentor, counsel and spend time with students outside of regularly-scheduled student ministries activities
  • Be available to talk with parents who are concerned about their students and/or mediate between parents and students in times of crisis
  • Identify youth with leadership potential and assure opportunities are given for development
  • Oversee the selection and implementation of curriculum
  • Oversee and manage the Student Ministries budget
  • Implement and manage/maintain all safety and security processes, including background checks of volunteers and student release/permission forms
  • Oversee and ensure all rooms and physical spaces associated with Student Ministries are organized and neat
  • Oversee, manage and care for equipment and “props”
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings, training and conferences
  • Pursue growth and development through reading, conferences and exchange of ideas with others
  • Collaborate with Children’s Ministry Director to ensure the smooth transition of 5th graders into the youth program
