The Worship Director is a part-time staff member responsible for planning and coordinating all musical and creative elements of worship gatherings, leading music for worship in Sunday morning gatherings, and rehearsing and cultivate an environment of honor
The Worship Director will engage the congregation at our weekly worship gathering with creative and quality music and call people to receive and respond to the good news of the gospel.
NOTE ON OUR MUSIC STYLE:
Our musical style is a mish-mash of anthem rock (Hillsong, Passion, Elevation Church, Vertical Worship, etc.), in addition to Folk Rock/Americana (All Sons and Daughters, Daniel Bashta, House Fires, etc.). We sprinkle in new/old hymns on a regular basis
// QUALIFICATIONS //
Experience: Minimum of one year leading music in the church. Willingness to learn our particular soundtrack and how God is shaping our particular context. Experience leading a team of musicians.
Knowledge, skills, and gifts:
Established worship leading skills as a musician and vocalist, displaying a confident grasp of voice, guitar and/or piano, and effective stage presence
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Bible, especially as it applies to worship; strong leadership skills; pastoral heart and love for people; ability to lead a team of volunteers and work effectively with staff and leadership teams
Strong verbal and written communication ability
Must be able to effectively schedule, organize, and lead rehearsals and the Sunday worship gathering.
Proficient in Pro Ppresenter and knowledgeable of sound equipment and mixing sound
Candidate must be well spoken of by unbelievers have friends who don't know Jesus.

Regularly spends time in prayer and study of God’s Word
Responds to conflict with maturity, directness, and peacemaking; can interact well with a variety of personalities
Is involved in discipleship, mentoring, and spiritual community on a one-on-one or group basis (or is willing to be involved in that)
// DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES //
As the “Chief Musician”-
Serve as the primary worship leader in Sunday morning worship gatherings, while also involving other musicians and worship leaders
Work closely with the Lead Pastor and Connections Pastor to develop weekly service plans that fit with the series theme; including song lists, example recordings, chord charts, and other creative and liturgical elements
Schedule, rehearse, and communicate with volunteer musicians/vocalists for weekly gatherings. Includes a weekly rehearsal and rehearsal on Sunday morning before our gathering
Recruit, audition, and coach volunteers
Prepare music that falls within the current musical and creative style of the church while also casting vision for new directions; include both ancient and modern elements that provide historical rootedness in a modern stylistic context.
Develop a Christ-centered worship culture at VCC, which includes creativity and a high quality musicianship
Develop other musicians: Work with musicians in the church, recognize their gift and help grow them in their craft. (Again, we realize this will be limited due to the role being part-time, but still think it is an important piece to the growth of the music
