First Baptist Church, Jacksonville, AR, is a dynamic and growing church of about 300, with the heart of worship and discipleship. We are actively searching for a full-time Worship Pastor that will partner with us in the direction that we are being led. We are seeking an individual with the passion of leading corporate worship to an audience of One. We desire someone who is well organized, self-motivated, a team player, can incorporate an adult worship choir, and can assist with discipleship and small groups.

The role of the Worship Pastor is to direct the music ministry of First Baptist Church of Jacksonville. The Worship Pastor shall be regarded as an associate of the pastor and will work in harmony with the Senior Pastor. The Worship Pastor will have a firm grasp on the purpose, values, and strategy of First Baptist Church of Jacksonville and align key leadership teams with its mission.
Key Responsibilities
1. Focused work in music ministry: The staff position for the person employed to direct the music ministry of First Baptist Church shall be defined by the title, Worship Pastor. Responsibilities include:
a. During the pastor's absences from the church field (and with his consent and direction) this minister may: supply the pulpit, take care of visitation needs, officiate at weddings (if qualified) and funerals, attend to counseling requests, and generally tend to the administration of the ministry of the church in cooperation with one or more other associate pastors.
b. Participate in leading congregational worship services in cooperation with the other members of the staff.
c. Share the pastoral responsibilities concerning visitation needs of the congregation.
d. Be involved in continual professional growth, in personal evangelism and outreach and in the total life of the church.
e. Conduct himself in an exemplary Christian manner in order to be above reproach, serve as a role-model leader, keep confidences in individual counseling situations and be trustworthy in all relationships.
2. Staff Supervision and Development: The minister of music is accountable to the congregation of First Baptist Church through the policy directives of the Personnel Committee and his assigned supervisor.
a. Overseeing, planning and implementing musical programs to include recruitment for the choir, instrumentalist and personnel for other musical programs
b. Supervise employees as assigned and perform other additional duties as assigned by the pastor.
3. Administration:
a. Direct the choir, instrumentalist and musical programs.
b. Plan with other staff members the worship services.
c. Secure music for worship services (encouraging lay member involvement).
d. Coordinate budget preparation and administration for the music ministry of the church.
e. Catalog new music and maintain the music library.
f. Oversee the maintenance of all musical instruments that belong to the church.
g. Work with other music groups as time permits, (i.e., ensembles, soloists, etc.).
h. Seek ways to involve the music ministry in the overall ministry and outreach of the church to the community.
i. Plan and implement other musical activities that will lead to the spiritual and musical growth of the congregation.
4. Discipleship Responsibilities:
a. Assist pastor in developing and implementing discipleship strategy.
b. Train, equip, and encourage leaders of small groups.
c. Personally disciple someone.
d. Assimilate new guests, believers, and members into the life of the church.
5. Evaluation and compensation: An annual performance evaluation will be completed on all supervised personnel and submitted to the Personnel Committee by July 1.
