Position: Minister to Students

Classification: Exempt

Status: Full-Time

Supervisor: Minister of Discipleship

Supervises: Ministry Assistant

General Responsibilities:

Provide leadership and vision to the overall education and discipleship of teenagers

through a comprehensive ministry to students grades seven through college

Specific Responsibilities:

- Organize a balanced approach to student and family ministry

- Lead Sunday morning Bible study for students

- Promote, plan, coordinate, conduct, and evaluate all student ministry opportunities, including evangelism, discipleship, missions, worship, and fellowship

- Enlist and train volunteer leaders to work in the student ministry

- Plan and direct all activities, such as student life camp, mission trips, retreats, Wednesday night Bible studies, small groups, seminars, Disciple Now, and other special events

- Give guidance and leadership to the college and career ministry

- Select and integrate the use of all resources, such as curriculum, equipment, supplies, and facility space

- Provide Christian guidance to meet the needs of young people and their parents

- Develop a program to encourage and strengthen parents and to involve them in the student ministry

- Work with ministry leaders, teachers, and staff members to accomplish the overall vision and purpose of the church

- Develop outreach opportunities to and for students, families, and the community

- Keep up-to-date on the latest educational methods and attend personal/professional seminars or conferences as needed

- Prepare and administer the student ministry budget

- Maintain work schedule and travel as assigned to meet position responsibilities

- Perform other duties as assigned

Essential Skills:

- Ability to share the gospel effectively with teenagers

- Identify and engage in cooperative ministry activities with all staff

- Strong verbal, written, listening and people skills

- Positive leadership with the ability to encourage and delegate

- Effective time management and organizational skills

- Ability to teach

- Effective use of current technology

- Work cooperatively with all assigned teams, ministry assistant, church staff, volunteers, parents, and local school administration

Preferred Skills:

- Ability to preach

- Pastoral counseling


- Has a demonstrated personal relationship with Jesus Christ

- Born-again believer committed to Christian principles and Baptist doctrine

- Servant leadership

- Strong desire to serve Christ through the local church as Member of First Baptist Church of Round Rock

- Bachelor Degree, Masters preferred from an accredited seminary
