The primary responsibilities of this position involve developing, maintaining, and visioning a student ministries program that emphasizes building relationships, spiritual development, missions, and outreach while working with the other student ministries director under the mission of the church: Becoming Disciples of Jesus To Make a Difference. This ministry will be organized around the church’s ministry strategy of: Connect, Learn, Grow, Serve, Give.  The job responsibilities are:

Overall Responsibilities:

  • To work closely with the other Student Ministries Director and other student ministry staff in agreement with our church’s vision, goals and statement of faith
  • Assist in planning, executing, and attending all Student Ministry events 
  • Build relationships with students both on and off campus
  • Assist in the recruiting, training, and coordination of volunteers
  • Work to build a strong connection between the youth program, children’s program, and sports ministry
  • Assist the other Student Ministries Director in all aspects of youth ministry and lead programs and projects as asked or needed.
  • Assist the Children’s Director in Confirmation classes as needed.


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience
  • At least two years youth ministry experience in a youth ministry program (paid or volunteer)
  • Familiarity with and supporting of United Methodist doctrine, polity, heritage and      structure


Required Skills

  • Complete Ministry Safe Training and pass a background check
  • A minimum age of 21 to comply with the Ministry Safe policy
  • A strong walk with God through a growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Teachable, with a desire to grow in their faith and abilities
  • A self-starter—highly motivated
  • Passion for youth ministry and outreach
  • Understands youth culture today
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient social media and computer skills
  • A good role model
  • Team player with effective relational skills (works well with others)
  • Well organized


Staff Responsibilities

  • Hold regular office hours
  • Attend regular planning periods with the student ministries team
  • Regularly network with area youth workers and attend professional development opportunities
  • Attend weekly staff meetings
  • Meet with the other Student Ministries Director weekly
  • Meet with the senior pastor at least twice a month


Professional Development

  • Attend continuing education seminars to enhance the gifts given for ministry
