Serving at Bloomingdale Church, an evangelism-growth church in multiethnic Chicagoland:

  • NextGen: Serve alongside team staff and 225 volunteers - all helping over 900 kids and teens (270/week) be welcomed and know about Jesus

  • Diverse Learning Experiences: Grow from many practical experiences - teaching, planning events, leading teams, discipling, assimilating guests, and being an problem-solver

  • Team-Based: Work alongside multiple teams of staff and point leaders

  • Mentorship: Staff are regularly encouraged and coached by seasoned staff and point-leaders

  • Missional: Following the model of Jesus (Luke 10:1-2) who recruited and coached ministry partners and then sent them out, Bloomingdale Church has trained over forty staff

  • Personal Formation: Receive assessments, attend trainings, be cared for by a church family

Youth Outreach Director Job Description

Summary of Ministry Focus: People Care & Prayer (5th-8th grade students/parents, guest assimilation, volunteer development), Lead Friday Night Coffeehouse, Youth Staff Team (community outreach initiatives, student intern development, retreats/events), PAK (Awana, assimilation), NextGen Staff roles, Pastoral Staff roles


People Care & Prayer

  • Participate in weekly prayer group focused on prayer for the salvation of unbelievers

  • Pastoral care of 5th-8th grade students and parents

  • Assimilation of 5th-8th grade students and parents

  • Develop Awana PAK, Jr High, and Coffeehouse program volunteers

5th-6th Grade

  • Awana PAK

  • Champion 5th-6th grade assimilation (Sunday Morning PAK, PAK Parties, PAK class - Day Camp)

Friday Night Coffeehouse

  • Oversee Friday Night Coffeehouse, including volunteer recruiting/development, administrative responsibilities, and communication

  • Coordinate the Jr High/High School large group event, including short Gospel-focused talk  

  • Help guests assimilate and discover a personal relationship with Jesus

Youth Staff Team

  • Develop outreach initiatives in local community

  • Student Serving Society

  • Support Marquardt Middle School “Student Serving Society”

  • Oversee 2-3 Student Interns

  • Rotate as lead and support roles in combined youth ministry events and retreats

  • Support youth small groups

NextGen Staff Team

  • Inspire “Safe & Welcoming” environments

  • Communicate PAK & Youth Group programs and events

  • Strive to work cohesively as a NextGen Staff team

ŽPastoral Staff Roles: Modeling Jesus’ servant leadership style 

  • Attend weekly staff meeting.  Fulfill weekly accountability report

  • Support staff initiatives

  • Submit bi-annual written report to Governing/Shepherd’s Board

  • Report to Administrative Pastor


Compensation Explanation

Twenty (of the 30 hours) of compensation is designated for housing in a garden apartment on church campus with utilities. Salary also includes self-employment tax contribution, and a budget for cell phone, hospitality, education, and gas reimbursement. The church can offer health insurance, but it is recommended to consider other options.
