Salaried Part-time (average 20-25 hours per week)

Off-campus work authorized: (as deemed by Associate Pastor or SPRC)

Goal of the position within the Church: To oversee Information Technology infrastructure and provide effective communication for the members of HUMC and community.

Knowledge, skills, and attributes for position

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Communications, or related discipline(s) preferred
  • 2 years of considerable and progressive IT-related work experience in information systems with a focus on networking and communications or related areas
  • Equivalent combination of experience, training, or education will be considered

Specific Duties and Tasks of the Position

  • Collect and organize announcements and determine the most appropriate publicity for various events
  • Monitor, distribute, and generate general weekly church emails
  • Manage church social media accounts
  • Oversee the maintenance of the church website in coordination with web developer
  • Prepare and oversee the production of monthly church newsletter
  • Prepare and produce weekly announcement insert/handout and support office personnel with the production of the weekly worship bulletin
  • Provide leadership, vision, and management to the church’s Information Technology
  • Work with staff to assess and respond to IT needs
  • Provide training as needed to staff and volunteers in IT skills
  • Oversee, in consultation with IT Contractor, the development, design, and implementation of new applications and changes to existing IT systems and applications
  • Budget, order, acquire, inventory, and dispose of hardware and software
  • Serve as the primary contact with outside organizations and vendors in the generation of RFPs, bids, contracts, agreements, regulatory monitoring, and other interactions related to information technology
  • Maintain the integrity and continual operation of the IT systems, including servers, networks, telecommunication systems, and related infrastructure supported by IT Contractor
  • Maintain, with IT Contractor, security and privacy of the information systems, communication lines, and equipment
  • Develop, review, and certify all back up and disaster recovery procedures and plans
  • Prepare for meetings and special events, to include computer, internet, audio-visual, and telecommunication set up
  • Pastors may provide additional tasks that are consistent with the job description and can reasonably be expected to be accomplished within the position’s work hours.
