Job Description—Production Assistant Director


Position Summary: This role is the front-line leader responsible for the execution and delivery of Productions support at one or more HDC ministry sites.


Principal Working Relationships:This role reports to the Production Director and includes responsibility of supporting and overseeing Production staff and volunteers. The Site Tech Leads assigned to a specific ministry site report directly to the Production Assistant Director.

Duties and Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Lead with a servant’s heart, demonstrate genuine care and concern, while acting with humility and integrity, when encouraging the efforts of all team members (1 Peter 5:1-4)
  • Recruit, train, develop, manage and evaluate a Productions staff consisting of the Site Tech Lead and part-time Techs. Hold regular 1:1 meetings with team members to equip, prepare and execute performance standards while striving to increase capacity and excellence.
  • Maintain excellent Production and Shared Services values during rehearsal, sound check, and service/event:
    • Provide excellent customer service while exhibiting the value of Helpfulness
    • Accurate and timely setup
    • Production meetings with service/event teams
    • Clean transitions during service/event
    • Week to week consistency in all aspects of Production
  • Oversee the onboarding, training, scheduling, and encouragement of Production volunteers
  • Maintain productive and healthy relationships with service/event leaders and band members
  • Participate in service/event planning when appropriate
  • Oversee blocking of musicians, speakers, and stage elements
  • Provide Production oversight for all campus events
    • Act as liaison between event leader(s) and Production staff
    • Schedule Production staff
    • Oversee media intake
    • Provide on-site support if necessary
    • Oversee billing for Production support
  • Lead or participate in all-church Productions projects including but not limited to:
    • Event Leadership and Coordination
    • Equipment Maintenance and Organization
    • Training Program Development/Delivery
    • Special Services
    • Stage Design
    • System Design/Installation/Maintenance
    • A/V/L Leadership
    • Broadcast Leadership
  • Participate in prayer time & meetings as required


Position Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’sdegreeispreferred
  • 3+yearsofexperienceinProductionfield(churchproductionpreferred)
  • StrongknowledgeofA/V/Lsystems

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the Productions Assistant Director is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.  The Productions Assistant Director must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 50lbs unassisted, participate in the set-up/tear-down process of HDC sites located at schools, participate in the construction of physical sets which may involve soldering, working with wood, fabrics, plastics, various metals and chemicals including paint, glues, etc.

Oversee the production requirements of weekend campus ministry


Oversee the scheduling, training, assignment, and encouragement of campus Production volunteers






Assist in the stage design for ALL HDC campus main venues


Assist in the acquisition and maintenance of A/V/L equipment




Participate in general duties: 

  • Staff meetings/retreats                                         · Staff training events




NOTE: Percentages are intended as estimates and should be evaluated in light of a 40 hour workweek.
