About the Organization:

Tracing The Village Church’s history brings it all back to the heart of their mission—to bring glory to God by making disciples through gospel-centered worship, gospel-centered community, gospel-centered service and gospel-centered multiplication. In 1978, Lakeland Baptist Church in Lewisville, TX, planted Highland Village First Baptist Church in Highland Village. Highland Village First Baptist Church became The Village Church in 2002 after Matt Chandler became the lead pastor. Over the years, and by God’s faithfulness, The Village Church has planted six campuses and the church has seen many more changes that reflect the faithfulness and providence of God. 

Now the church is at a place where they believe God is leading them to transition all their campuses into independent churches.


About the Position:

The Fort Worth Campus Lead Pastor will oversee, shepherd, and supervise ministry at one of the TVC campuses. They will ensure the campus is living out the biblical mission of the universal church and the contextualized vision of the Village in specific geographic community, They will equip the church and its leadership towards a campus transition while also continuing to develop personal leadership traits. When the campus transitions to become an independent congregation, the campus pastor will become the lead pastor of that local body. 

What We Are Searching For / Qualifications

The following describes many of the characteristics of the ideal candidate for the Fort Worth Campus/Lead Pastor:


The ideal candidate will have a master’s degree from an accredited seminary or similar theological training.


The ideal candidate will have at least seven to ten years or more of experience in ministry leadership, and experience in a church of at least 500 attendees. Experience working in a multicultural setting is a significant bonus.

  • Faithful follower of Jesus, continually seeking to nurture and grow in their faith.
  • Highly skilled in Gospel-centered preaching.
  • Experienced as a pastor and Biblical counselor.
  • Fully embraces the theological positions of The Village Church ( - including the theological distinctions of baptism by immersion, the sovereignty of God in salvation, the present-day gifts of the Spirit, and complementarianism. 
  • Operating in the gifts of shepherding, leadership, teaching, encouragement, administration, and evangelism.
  • Effective Communicator (both orally and written).
  • Skilled in leading, delegating, coaching, and mentoring.
  • A team builder who enjoys working with people, growing and nurturing a team through recruiting or development, and is skilled in resolving conflict.
  • Exercises social responsibility, strategic thinking and flexibility.
