Who We Are
Chapel City Church is located in Camarillo, California, a largely suburban community of approximately 70,000 in Ventura County. The surrounding area has deep roots in agriculture--citrus, avocadoes, strawberries, and truck farming--but has added
a variety of light industries and commercial establishments to the economic base over the past thirty years. Camarillo is home to one of the newest Cal State campuses, California State University Channel Islands. We also provide housing for many servicemen
and women and their families from the nearby Pt. Mugu naval base.
The population of Camarillo is fairly ethnically diverse along Southern California lines with a mix of white, Latino, Asian, and black ethnicities represented. The income level and educational level of the adult population here is slightly above
average for Southern California.
Chapel City Church was first established in 1973 as Camarillo Evangelical Free Church and moved to its present location in 1981. The church is a participating member in the Evangelical Free Churches of America. We currently have 210 active members
with a weekly Sunday attendance of 275 children and adults. Our congregation generally mirrors our community demographically but is less ethnically diverse. We are a mix of young and established families with a significant number of retirees.
