Our church is looking for a pastor for our congregation of 125 members. We have a full time secretary, a part time youth pastor, and a building that is about 10 years old and paid for. We are located on the outskirts of Freeport, IL, a community of 25,000
people. Our church has a variety of ages, backgrounds, and sociology-economic groups. Zion Church has been in the Freeport community for over 155 years.
Our church can best be described as a Conservative Evangelical Church or a Bible Church. We are a member of the 4C’s conference.
Our current pastor has been serving for the past 12 years. He has asked to retire by the end of 2018. We are thankful that he is giving us this much time to search for a new pastor. He is willing to retire sooner if our church calls a pastor at any time
this year. We are thankful for his ministry, and he continues to serve.
Pastoral duties would include: Sunday morning preaching, Wed night Bible study, overseeing the spiritual health of the congregation, and working with the elders in overseeing and ministering to the congregation. The pastor also will work with our youth pastor
and church secretary in organizing various activities and ministries of the church. Our congregation does have an older membership that values visits from the pastor. Our church is congregationally led, and the pastor would work with our board in overseeing
the ministries of the congregation. Our congregation is united, excited about the future, and eager to see what God has for our future.
We are looking for a pastor who is excited about working with a united church family and joining us as partners in ministering to our community. Please send a PDF copy of a detailed resume, philosophy of ministry, list of references, and doctrinal statement
