Student Minister Job Description
The Student Minister is responsible for the overall leadership and direction of Student Ministry emphasizing the spiritual formation of students. This includes parent relationships, worship services (worship arts & technology), outreach, pastoral care,
community groups, strategy and planning, leadership/volunteer development, & worship leader oversight.
Essential Job Functions
Provide a clear path and structure for parents to mentor, influence and add value to students. Parent Leadership/Involvement/Structure – Engage parents of students
Develop and lead by utilizing “Sponsor” leadership team
Provide clear structure and job descriptions for all positions across Student Ministry.
Provide effective training
Provide authentic & engaging worship (music and teaching) that creates contagious excitement and opportunity to express love for God.
Preach engaging messages congruent with adult worship or strategic to student needs.
Collaborate with Student Worship Leader to provide vibrant, engaging and authentic worship that utilizes students.
Provide activities that create contagious excitement and encourages students (believers and non-believers) to commit to Christ, build community and love others.
Conduct monthly activities that attract students.
Whenever possible include a service opportunity within the monthly activity.
Provide a non-threatening environments/events that encourages students to invite/engage their unchurched friends for the purpose of outreach.
Provide a clear path to Spiritual Maturity for students - to become more like Christ through effective community (Life Groups).
Life Group leaders are engaged in student worship.
Life Group topics congruent with Sunday message.
Effective Life Group leaders.
Communicate to parents and students to inspire, equip and enable participation.
Students – Relevant information through verbal and written communication through effective means.
Parents - Relevant and timely information by email & texting.
Manage the budget for Student Ministry.
Provide pastoral care to volunteers and staff through community building and other forms of encouragement and shepherding to volunteers and staff.
Lead a community group.
Participate in normal “pastoral” responsibilities (i.e. hospital visitation, baptizing in the worship services, weddings and funerals).
Attend and participate in all appropriate staff and team meetings.

Education and Experience
This person possesses a sincere passion for leading students into a relationship with Christ. The successful individual must have a proven track record of effective leadership, judgment, and above reproach character. This position requires a minimum of
3 years of experience as a Youth Pastor/Minister. Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in Ministry or comparable experience.
