Job Description:

Experienced Security Officer for a large church in Marietta, GA.  Persons applying should be interested in serving the members of the church and visitors.  Applicants should be friendly and accustomed to security requirements.


Responsibilities include: 

- monitor access to a large church at the church's main desk.

- security patrols of designated areas on foot or in vehicle

- investigate and prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities

- watch for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards

- sound alarms or call police or fire department in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons

- permit authorized persons to enter property and monitors entrances and exits

- assist church members, employees and visitors in a courteous and professional manner


Expectations include one or more of the following essential job functions with or without a reasonable accommodation:

- be able to work overtime and on various shifts as needed; including weekends and holidays. Reasonable accommodation based on religious beliefs or disabilities will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

- be able to maintain accurate records (computer & smart phone)

- effectively comprehend numerous policies, procedures, and concepts in order to respond appropriately to various situations

- communicate effectively with others

- walk up and down stairs (patrols include walking up and down 3 flights of stairs)

- stand for long periods of time sometimes in excess of eight hours

- work outside in a variety of weather conditions depending on the assignment

- ability to walk the church property, climb stairs, and to assist or carry a disabled, ill, or injured person. Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time. Sufficient strength and flexibility for stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, lifting, carrying, and other movements


Candidates are required to:

- possess a high school diploma or equivalent

- have over two years of security officer or law enforcement experience

- have a driver’s license if driving a company or client-owned vehicle

- ability to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors

- ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public

- not wear any visible body piercings nor visible tattoos

- pass a safe-sanctuary background check by the church

- have acceptable grooming standards (no hair below the collar)

- must be at least 21 years old

- must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States

- must have access to reliable transportation that allows for short notice response (no more than 3 hour window)

- must have a mobile phone (w/ active plan)

- must have an e-mail address

- must be able to effectively read, write and speak English

- must not use illegal drugs. Must be able to pass a drug test with negative results (except when undergoing documented medical treatment)

- must submit to an extensive background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications, and Department of Motor Vehicle and credit checks if applicable

- must not have a felony conviction

- must not have a misdemeanor conviction involving moral turpitude or violence within 5 years of date of application. Multiple convictions for misdemeanor offenses withing 7 years of date of application may also disqualify. Must not have pleaded nolo contender to any similar offense as listed above.

- must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military
