Job Description:

The Technical Director is responsible for the overall coordination and management of audio, visual, and lighting needs of Grace Bible Church.  The Technical Director is tasked with the responsibility of creating and enhancing production elements that deliver technically cohesive, distraction free worship services.

  • Working knowledge of live production: audio (digital soundboards), lighting, multimedia, music, and staging
  • Intermediate MAC and PC proficiency 
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly
  • Knowledge of lighting production 
  • Knowledge of video switching with multiple cameras (IMAG)  
  • Knowledge of ProPresenter 6
  • Broad hands-on experience with technology in modern worship production environment
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with good decision-making skills
  • Ability to lead projects from concept to completion 
  • Ability to lead and problem solve with limited supervision yet effectively communicate with staff, volunteers, and other campuses/churches
  • Recruit, develop and equip volunteer sound and media teams for events and weekend services: service directors, equipment operators, lights and camera
  • Flexible in an environment subject to last-minute changes

General Responsibilities

Oversee AVL selection and implementation for all campuses and all venues (adults, students, children).  (Campuses will do general maintenance and troubleshooting)

  • Maintain competency in all AVL systems
  • Church wide Multi-Campus Budgeting for AVL
  • Oversee AVL installations at future campuses
  • Provide support as needed to campuses
  • Long term planning for capital purchases and improvements
  • Continue to be on the lookout for future technologies that will enhance the ministry of GBC
Collaborate with the Service Programming Team (SPT) staff to execute the overall vision of the SPT and Grace Bible Church through the values of grace, humility, and teamwork
  • Participate in the design and execution of stage set designs

Oversee the Production Team at the Lynnhaven Campus

  • Recruit, train, schedule volunteers
  • Shepherd Lynnhaven Production Team members

Prepare and execute the technical elements of production for GBC services and special events through a Spirit-led and prayerful process of planning, implementing, and evaluating

  • Support Service Programming Team in the creative planning and the production of Sunday services and special events
  • Oversee transmission of video feed to campuses

Work with the Teaching Pastors and Ministry Directors to explore ways to utilize technology to best achieve GBC vision and strategy

  • Identify resources to stay current with technology developments to remain on the cutting edge of industry relevant, professional-level equipment and usage
  • Get to know other technical directors in the area

Develop and maintain technology necessary for online service experience

  • Ongoing research into best practices
  • Developing a team to execute online campus
