Office and Communcation Director, a full-time, non-exempt position

 

Pennway Church of God is seeking an individual to become our Office and Communications Director.  The primary function is to serve as the “Hub” of the Church by managing the front office and all incoming and outgoing communications. This includes answering the phone, scheduling, social media and website/app management, publication creation, and supporting the Pastoral staff as requested.

 

Requirements and Qualifications
1. Love for God and for people
2. Desire to see the ministry of the church be effective
3. Proficient in Microsoft Office, website/app management, Google docs, Planning Center, Pro Presentor, various social media platforms, and/or have a willingness and  ability to learn new programs
4. Ability to organize time and projects according to priority and to finish all required tasks
5. Detail oriented
6. Ability to self-start, multi-task, and problem solve
7. Friendly and welcoming demeanor in person, on the phone, and on-line
8. Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written
9. Able to recruit, train, and manage a team of office volunteers
10. Ability to work with a team

Duties and responsibilities
1. Be in the Church Office during business hours
2. Manage and pleasantly interact with all incoming communication including: phone calls, church visitors, and on-line
3. Recruit, schedule, and train volunteers for office help including: front desk, mailing teams, reminder phone calls, or other needs as they appear
4. Church event and facility scheduling
5. Manage and update the prayer line/prayer sheet
6. Typical office functions such as handling incoming/outgoing mail, manage office supplies, manage contracts with office suppliers (copier, phone, etc), manage office budget
7. Produce and print (and mail when appropriate) all publications including: the monthly newsletter (Proclaimer), weekly bulletin (PenNotes), and any other forms or cards as needed or requested
8. Maintain the website, app, social media, and buffer according to the communications calendar
9. Prepare the slides and information for services through Pro Presentor
10. Manage visitor information and distribute/log information accordingly
11. Keep up to date information on hospitalization of congregants and pastoral visits
12. Help schedule and make calls for necessary arrangements for weddings, funerals, etc.
13. Create CDs and labels of each sermon for our homebound congregants
14. Arrange staff birthday and volunteer luncheons
15. Facilitate communication between staff, ministries, and the congregation
16. Support pastors and ministries of Pennway through phone calls, copies, etc. as requested
17. Manage the Information Rack, various bulletin boards, and Welcome Center in the Lobby, keeping all information and forms up to date
18. Any other duties as assigned
