About the Organization:

It is the mission of WoodsEdge Community Church to Love Jesus, Journey Together and Bring Hope to the World. In the words of Mother Teresa, "We want to love Jesus like He has never been loved before."

Founded 24 years ago originally as a seeker-church modeled after Willowcreek, WoodsEdge Community Church made a significant course change in 1996, seeking God’s thumbprint for its ministries instead of modeling after another church. It has grown significantly over the years and desires to be a diverse, welcoming place of worship and teaching, where honesty, humility, and authenticity are highly valued and lived out by the staff of the church.

Prayer and missions are two of WoodsEdge Community Church’s key focus areas. In 2002, the church began an initiative to emphasize a stronger spirit of prayer in WoodsEdge and now, it is their biggest value. In addition to a deep foundation of prayer within the church, WoodsEdge also supports 60+ missional organizations in addition to its own missionaries. It is evident from the first moment someone steps inside their doors, that they are a church that deeply desires to help people love Jesus like He’s never been loved before, and equip them with prayer and opportunities to give and serve to live that out in their every day lives.

About the Location:

The Spring/The Woodlands, TX area is a suburb north of Houston, TX, and is tucked between the big city skylines of Houston and the vast farmland and countryside of Huntsville.

Spring is a historical city that began as a trading post at Spring Creek in the mid 1800s with a couple hundred residents. Many German immigrants came to the area and used the abundant land as profitable farmland. Today, Spring is home to about 54,000 residents and is a popular area for young families to move to because of its proximity to excellent school systems, higher educational opportunities, and short commute to nearby headquarters of major oil, gas, and engineering companies in The Woodlands and Houston proper. Spring was named #14 of the 20 Most Affordable Locations to live in the United States in 2008 by CNN Money. Residents of this area love Spring and Klein, a nearby community, for its entertainment, shopping opportunities, culture, dining and proximity to the city. It is the best of both worlds – just under 40 minutes drive into Houston, it is a quieter reprieve from the hustle and bustle of the city, but still offers the quality of life that Houston is known for.

The Woodlands

The Woodlands is an award-winning master-planned community that began with 124 people in 1974. Today it is home to approximately 115,000 residents and over 2100 employers. One of the original goals of The Woodlands plan was to maintain the natural forested environment and envisioned a “complete” community with a major employment center where one can “live, work, play and learn.” The Woodlands boasts a thriving Town Center with major shopping venues and is home to one of the most successful concert venues in the U.S.

Houston is the fourth-largest city in the United States and the largest city in the state of Texas. According to the 2010 U.S. Census, the city had a population of 2.1 million people within an area of 579 square miles. Houston is the home of the Texas Medical Center — the world's largest concentration of healthcare and research institutions, and NASA's Johnson Space Center, where the Mission Control Center is located.

Rated as a global city, Houston's economy has a broad industrial base in energy, manufacturing, aeronautics, and transportation. It is also leading in health care sectors and oilfield equipment manufacturers; only New York City is home to more Fortune 500 headquarters. The Port of Houston ranks first in the United States in international waterborne tonnage handled and second in total cargo tonnage handled. The city has a population from various ethnic and religious backgrounds and a large and growing international community. It is home to many cultural institutions and exhibits, which attract more than 7 million visitors a year to the Museum District. Houston has an active visual and performing arts scene in the Theater District and offers year-round resident companies in all major performing arts.
