Job Description:

The Communications Director will provide effective leadership and oversight to communications and related teams. The ideal candidate for this position will be able to respond to the overarching vision set by the ministerial leadership team by telling stories that effectively support, disseminate, and guide the embodiment of this vision—both internally and externally. The communications director will directly report to an associate minister.



A Bachelors degree in communications, marketing, graphic design or a related field of study is preferred. 



  • Approximately 40 hours per week in addition to Sunday responsibilities

  • Provide on-site oversight and/or direction to communications elements (e.g., audio, visual, social media) on Sunday mornings and at other Peachtree events

  • Lead and manage a volunteer-based communications team

  • Manage email updates, social media, and online presence

  • Create weekly, monthly, and seasonal publications

  • Weekly communications plan

  • Monthly vision report


  • Possess an artistic and graphic design skill set with a vision of relevant marketing and communications trends.

  • Working experience with Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, Premiere Pro (or Final Cut).

  • Understanding of video production, photography, web design and management, social media, graphic design, and brand management.

  • Ability to create, encourage, and maintain a positive work environment.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including editing and proofreading.


Personal Characteristics

  • Ability to interface respectfully and graciously with church members, leaders, and volunteers.

  • Appropriate dress and attire. During the work week, business casual; on Sundays, business professional.

  • Exercises good judgment in all things, including personal social media usage.


Year-One Projects

  • Assessment of current logo and overall branding needs.

  • Website redesign. The site should be current, clean, functional, allow for multiple users, and be mindful of future needs and possibilities.

  • Develop a media kit and style guide. Provide a range of templates that would provide various options for printed and online publication. This would include, but would not be limited to, business cards, Order of Worship template, poster and flyer templates, booklet template, web graphics, etc. Ideally, multiple staff members would be able to use these documents for their various ministry areas.

  • Establish plan for outward communication.
