Job Description:

Sheets Memorial Baptist Church, an unaffiliated Baptist church serving the city of Lexington and greater Davidson County community of North Carolina, is in search of a full-time Associate Pastor of Youth Ministries.


Sheets Memorial Baptist Church began a Christian School in 1969 that now includes almost 300 students in pre-school through Grade 12. It also houses the offices for, and helped to found, BEN (the mission board working in conjunction with NTCGS) and NTCGS (a college & graduate school training nationals primarily in the Middle East).


Qualified applicants must have a Bachelor’s Degree from a school of similar theological position or equivalent experience.


Experience should include 3 -5 years in a vocational youth ministries position.


The principle function of this position is to assist the senior pastor in the youth and children’s ministries of the church.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: teaching, visitation, youth leadership recruitment and ongoing training, oversight of Awanas and Wiggling Worship, scheduling of activities such as weekend activities, camps and student ministry opportunities.


This position requires regular attendance in all staff and deacon meetings, as well as, regular meetings with the senior pastor for discussion of ministry specifics, conflict management and times of prayer.


Youth Pastor qualifications include, but are not limited to:

A.      Education

     1.      Bachelor’s Degree from a school of similar theological position or equivalent experience

B.      Experience

     1.      3 – 5 yrs. Vocational Youth Ministries experience

C.      Qualifications

     1.      1 Timothy 3:1 -9 & Titus 1:5 – 9

     2.      Like faith & complete agreement with church’s Statement of Faith

     3.      Strong Leader

     4.      Good communication skills (exhorts, not rules)

     5.      Excellent teaching skills & experience in a regular class or group setting

     6.      Organizational skills & ability to handle multiple responsibilities equally
