About Eastpoint

Eastpoint is a casual, come-as-you-are kind of church that is eager to bring on a Sr. Pastor that will help guide them into their next phase of ministry in their community. They are located in a highly populated, suburban area that provides many ministry opportunities and is in need of a relevant, vibrant and authentic church presence. Eastpoint was started 18 years ago by a small group of visionary Believers that desired a greater ministry involvement with unchurched family units and with the University community located nearby.

 

Purpose
The role of the Lead Pastor is to help lead the church in setting and achieving ministry goals. The pastor works with a Church Leadership team of 12 men and women that are committed to seeing ministry results in their community.

The lead pastor will be an articulate advocate and communicator for the vision of God’s Church, for the Glory of God.  This person will be the primary leader, teacher, and visionary and will have a broad responsibility for the spiritual welfare, growth and life of the church in all areas including discipleship, evangelism, and equipping the congregation for service.  The lead pastor is to embody the essence of a shepherd and servant leader.

 

Experience and Knowledge Required

  • Master’s degree is desirable but not mandatory

  • Minimum of 5 years of church leadership as a Sr. Pastor

  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent “people” skills. Needs to be able to lead diplomatically and within the context of a “team” of church leaders.

  • Ability to understand and direct church policies and guidelines

  • Needs to live a life that is above reproach

Essential Function and Responsibilities

  • Preach 70% of Sundays within a calendar year.

  • Cultivate and lead a teaching team to assist in planning, preparation and evaluation of preaching.

  • Communicate preaching series to ministry staff and volunteers in order to coordinate their respective responsibilities.

  • Plan preaching for all special services. (Christmas, Easter, etc.)

  • Supervise the administration of the ordinances of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper..

  • Be a clear and articulate speaker who can be readily understood by our diverse congregation.

  • Have a vital walk with Jesus Christ evidenced by faithfulness, passion, and an appreciation for God’s glorious grace.

  • Have a gift and a passion for preaching the eternal, inerrant, and unalterable Word of God as revealed in the Old and New Testaments.

  • Practice personal one-on-one evangelism and discipleship and be committed to equipping others to do the same.

  • Have a heart for collegiate ministry and a willingness to cooperate with existing ministries on the University of Delaware campus.

  • Be an authentic communicator, easy to understand, and down-to-earth.

  • Demonstrate a willingness and ability to share with others in a large group setting and one-on-one from his heart and life.

  • Be willing to be humble enough to accept input from those he is leading, as well as be appropriately transparent with the many, and intimately transparent with a few.

  • Display a track record of personal management, leadership, and professionalism and have developed a personal model for Gospel-driven productivity.

  • Be actively seeking to lead his family into relationship with Christ. The lead pastor’s family should be supportive of God’s call on his life. The successful candidate is expected to relocate within the community of the church.
