About the Position:

As we seek our new lead pastor for Meadowbrooke, we want to affirm the importance of godly, Spirit-filled character as the foundation for the call and tasks of ministry. There is no substitute for a deep love for Christ and a commitment to “keep in step with the Spirit”. We also affirm that the requirements for elder/overseer as laid out in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9 apply to the position of pastor as well. We affirm the importance of each member in the Body of Christ – including the pastor – to know and exercise his/her spiritual gifts. In addition to the Biblical requirements, we seek a man who understands the demands of ministry, believes in the power of prayer, and models a balanced Christian life in regards to the needs of his wife and family, his personal well-being, and his spiritual life, to the glory of God.

As we evaluate the great diversity of gifts and skills that are desired in a pastor, we have narrowed down the following six areas that reflect our highest priorities and needs. And while we can identify a certain skill set that we seek, we also feel that a “fit” – of vision, gifting, and personality – is critical to a positive ongoing relationship between the pastor, staff, flock of Meadowbrooke, and the community.

Visionary Leader - Embraces the vision of Meadowbrooke while enhancing and developing it with his personal knowledge and gifts. Able to motivate people in the church to see the potential of Meadowbrooke Church and enthusiastically lead in helping the church realize the vision.

Highly Relational - Desires to build strong, healthy relationships with people inside and outside the church. Is known as a “people person” who engenders trust and genuinely cares about the well-being of individuals. Willing to develop appropriate personal friendships within the church family.

Excellent Communicator - Able to teach God’s Word effectively in a manner that encourages believers at Meadowbrooke to desire a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and a broader knowledge of the Word, as well as making the Word of God relevant to those who are not yet aligned with Biblical Christianity.

Team Orientation - Able to work collaboratively with the existing staff, elders, and lay leaders. Willing to function in a “quarterback” role with current leaders (a team approach) rather than a “General Manager” role (a hierarchical/CEO approach). Comfortable with a broad-based approach to leadership that includes training and allowing others to lead when appropriate.

Passion for Unbelievers - Demonstrates a desire to share Christ with the unconvinced. Actively seeks ways to facilitate Meadowbrooke in reaching our community for Christ, as well as being committed to personal evangelism. Able to train and mentor individuals in the church to present the Gospel effectively and encourage them to share their faith.

A Man of Prayer – Recognizes and prioritizes the practice of depending on God through a vibrant prayer life and leads the congregation in earnest, heartfelt prayer.
