Job Description:

The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith based organization, has a job opening for an Assistant Christian Education Director ($15.36 per hour) for the Culpeper Corps, located in Culpeper, Virginia.

 

Job Summary

Assists in the development, promotion, and implementation of Christian Education Programs for a Corps including youth programs; recommends creative and innovative ideas for program development; assists in developing programs and recruiting volunteers to serve as teachers/leaders for various programs and serves as a resource to assist them in the same; performs general secretarial work and prepares statistics, bulletins, and reports.

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of The Salvation Army mission and ministry. Knowledge of the Bible, doctrine and theology. Knowledge of principles and practices of Christian education, child development and family relations. Ability to recruit, lead, and motivate volunteers to teach Christian education classes/programs. Ability to serve as a resource for the development of Christian education programs. Ability to establish and nurture relationships with adults and children of all ages and their families.

 

 

Education and Experience

High School Diploma or G.E.D. and two years’ experience leading Christian education programs, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

 

 

Licenses and Certifications

Valid State Driver's License

 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Ability to perform mathematical calculations. Ability to type. Ability to operate various general office equipment including a telephone, dictaphone, typewriter, computer, and adding machine. Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking. Work may involve driving a vehicle on occasion to transport passengers to and from Corps programs.

 

Work is normally performed in a normal office or Corps environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.  Work may require driving a vehicle on occasion with exposure to outdoor temperatures and heavy traffic.
