Job Description:

The Technical Director oversees all aspects of audio, visual, and lighting (AVL) production for worship services and other events while serving to advance the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He/she trains and manages AVL support personnel. 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Operate and/or supervise the operation of all AVL equipment for church activities and events
  • Recruit, train, and manage AVL support personnel
  • Attend weekly staff meetings, monthly worship committee meetings, and other meetings as requested
  • Coordinate/consult with program staff, committees, and other ministries in planning worship services and other events
  • Develop and maintain livestream feeds for worship services and other events
  • Manage and maintain all AVL equipment and software
  • Practice good stewardship of AVL resources and keep an up-to-date inventory
  • Distribute physical and digital recorded content (e.g. CDs, DVDs, web uploads of worship services and other events)
  • Work with staff to provide AVL support
  • Administer AVL internal communications, payment authorizations, maintenance, etc.
  • Work with the music ministries to provide AVL training and support opportunities
  • Shepherd AVL support personnel in making their craft an act of worship
  • Maintain safety and cleanliness of AVL resources and storage areas
  • Plan and implement needed improvements and upgrades to AVL systems


  • Belief in Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savior, and affirmation of the Holy Bible as God’s Word
  • Training and/or experience in planning/managing, operating and maintaining AVL resources in support of programs for organizations
  • Ability to train and manage AVL production assistants
  • Ability to manage time and resources within a budget
  • Interpersonal, relational, organizational and verbal skills
  • Proficiency using: ProPresenter, Planning Center, Logic Pro, Ableton
  • Proficiency using digital mixing consoles (e.g. Yamaha, Midas, Avid, PreSonus, Digico, and Roland)
  • 3 years minimum experience in live sound engineering
  • Some college-level training preferred (a 4-year degree is preferred)


  • Part time exempt position expected to average 29 hours/week
  • Two weeks/year paid vacation
