The Children’s Director role is to empower families to flourish and lead children to a growing relationship with Jesus.
The Children’s Director is responsible for overseeing the Children’s program throughout the year to ensure a safe, fun and effective program. The Director’s role is to help pastor, bless, lead spiritual needs of the families, children and volunteers
at Wilshire Ave and beyond. The Director will have a heart for children and be a leader of leaders. The Director will lead, train and recruit volunteers to help carry out the mission and vision of the Children’s program.
Time Requirements: This is a full-time salaried position requiring presence on Sunday mornings and 4 other week days including weekly staff meetings (currently held on Tuesday mornings), Children’s Outreach events, MOPS (Mother of Preschoolers)
program (currently held on Wednesday mornings) and retreats. The remaining time and location of the schedule is flexible.
Qualifications, Skills, Gifts: A college degree or post high school education in education or ministry preferred. Equivalent experience will also be considered. Must be committed to the vision, values, and beliefs of the church. Should demonstrate
evidence of a Christ-like attitude in words and actions. Must be able to work independently and be self-motivated. Should be able to recruit, manage, and encourage a team of volunteers. Must have a heart and passion for children and possess understanding and
patience. Must have good organization skills and have the demonstrated ability to connect with all children, organize safe activities, ensure responsible behavior, and promote the WACC program within WACC and throughout the community. Requires excellent communication
skills and the ability to work with the church staff, parents, other congregants, etc. Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Description of Duties: Will 1) develop, promote, oversee and direct a Jesus centered program for children (birth through 6th Grade), 2) plan, organize and implement all Sunday morning programming, 3) retain and recruit volunteers, 4) supervise
and schedule paid childcare providers for church activities, 5) implement and execute WACC summer VBS and Fall Fest outreach events, 6) attend Children’s Team, and additional Church meetings to represent the interests of children’s ministries, 7) maintain
a knowledge of the child protection policy and hold children’s ministries accountable to them, 8) participate in budget planning, 9) build relationships with all age groups, 10) create a friendly and welcoming environment where un-churched guests (Children
& Parents) can feel welcomed, loved and secure.
Additional Responsibilities: 1) partners with Director of After-school Program and Director of Preschool to build bridges between church ministries and tuition-based programs; 2) work with WACC staff to achieve overall mission and vision
of WACC; 3) have a vision for reaching un-churched parents in community through park days, relational outreach events, MOPS, etc.
Reports directly to Lead Pastor and Executive Pastor.
