Who are we looking for? The future. You love Jesus and you love people in a way that is atypical. You are a great communicator because you don’t preach – you connect, especially with lost people. You are someone who is already engaged in a community that
is diverse because from your core you have pursued being part of a community that looks more like heaven. In fact, your student ministry, children’s ministry or what ever ministry you’re involved with was full of diversity (racial, economic, social) because
it is in your core. And the leadership teams you raised up were diverse as well. You see sin as brokenness. You are theologically sound and biblically conservative but your love looks more like a liberal because of your circle of friends. You understand
how Jesus wants to set people free because you’ve experienced what it means to be set free. You know the Holy Spirit’s presence and you know God’s Word but you also know God’s voice. You understand the organizational side of church and you’ve been a part
of great leadership DNA and feel called to leading the unchurched families of today into the future.
History, Leadership and Current Status
The Bridge Church has been around for decades, but changed our name to The
Bridge Church just over 10 years ago. We made the change in name so we could
reach more of our community and it would be an inviting place to attend. We have
continued to see growth over the years and have built a culture where the lost can feel
at home. We are continually making improvements, changes, and additions on our
current site from changing out carpet/seats in the large auditorium to creating additional
parking to planning a children’s ministry building, student ministry building and expanded
auditorium in the future.
The Bridge Church is co-led by Lead Pastor Mark Alt and Executive Pastor Dave Furst.
Mark has been at the The Bridge in some capacity for over 25 years. He has been the
Lead Pastor for over 16 years and has an incredible heart to connect with people and
people of the community. Dave has only just joined the Bridge but has been in full time
Pastoral Ministry in some capacity for over 18 years. Dave is passionate about the staff
and leading them to fulfill the great commission in their roles. Dave loves seeing lives
changed by the power of the Gospel and loves seeing people empowered to do ministry.
The trustees of the church also have a large part in leading the church as they continue
to move into the next season of the church.
This is an awesome time to join The Bridge Church as a pastor as there are some
incredible things that are coming up in the near future. With some of the direction of the
trustees and Executive Pastor Dave Furst, the church is looking at adding a few different
key staff roles for the first time - starting with the Next Gen Pastor role - as we see
this is one of the most critical roles we need.
The Bridge Church exists to love people right where they are and lead them into a growing
relationship with Christ. We do this by helping people to know God, find freedom, discover
purpose, and make a difference. We want to meet people where they are at, love them, and
get them connected with others in the church through a small group.
There is a large focus on small groups and being a part of community. This is such a large focus
where they have a goal of 110% in small groups. At the Bridge, we are committed to helping
people grow in their Christian walk, and we are a church of small groups leading that mission.
Challenge & Opportunity
When you look at the Next Gen Ministry for The Bridge Church it really is a challenge
and an opportunity wrapped into one. Knowing that we have not had a Next Gen
Pastor previously, there is a challenge of creating something without history, which is also
an opportunity in that there are not many (if any) sacred cows of the ministry.
The Next Gen Pastor will be a part of the newly formed executive team. This team will
be tasked with the vision development and vision casting of the ministry. The Bridge is a
Pastor led ministry and this person will have a seat at the table and will be able to speak
into the vision and direction of the ministry. This position will also be a part of the
teaching team on Sundays as well as other occasional teaching opportunities.
Direction for 0-30
The Bridge has continued to see growth over the years, and one of the areas they know
they need to focus on is synergy and strategy for the next gen ministry, starting with
birth and going all the way through college/young adult.
It is not the different areas has been segmented, it is just that there has not been
someone who is looking to bring them all together and head the same direction.
Build a Team
With the absence of a youth pastor, the Next Gen Pastor will have the opportunity to
build a team around them and hire staffing for the Next Gen ministry. There are
currently a few team members that would be apart of the Next Gen ministry team who
are excited to meet and follow their new leader.
Currently The Bridge Church has just started Orange Curriculum for their Next Gen
ministry. Orange is a philosophy of ministry, not just curriculum and at The Bridge we
want to eat, sleep and breath the Orange Philosophy. We are looking for someone who
has experience with Orange and that can lead us in the development and
implementation and be a champion to the church of it’s core philosophy.
One of the things that is coming in the near future of The Bridge is a new Children’s
Ministry Building and Student Ministry building. The new Next Gen Pastor will have the
opportunity to speak into the building and be a large part of the project if desired.
Support from many different places
The ministries of The Bridge already have a great deal of support, and there are
members of the church that are willing to be a part of the new direction. There are
public school principals, teachers, and volunteers that are eager to jump in.
To find out more about The Bridge Church, please take some time to check out our
website to learn more about their doctrinal beliefs, vision and values and the many other ministries of the church.
If you believe The Bridge Church might be a fit for you then please email your resume, a quick bio about yourself and why you think the Bridge is the place for you. Add a few teaching links as well. We love those. Or send us a creative video introduction.
Extra points for doing this. Be creative, fun and engaging. Do not click the apply now button on Church staffing. If you do, your application will totally be ignored. Email firstname.lastname@example.org
