North Kids Residency

North Kids is the birth-5th grade children’s ministry within North Church in Spokane WA. We’re a thriving kids ministry with 150+ kids weekly attending and a mission to help kids KNOW Jesus, GROW in healthy relationship and SHOW others what Jesus is doing in their lives.

The North Kids Residency is an 18-24 month program that brings residents on to fast paced high learning development tracks. You’ll gain valuable ministry experience, be provided a training pathway and grow in leadership, team building, theology and ministry skills.

We’re looking for the right person to join our Kids Team to lead and grow in our K-2nd Grade room. The resident would join the rest of the kids staff team and over 100 volunteers.


North Kids Residents Growth Path


Year One (27+ sessions)

•Doing Church As A Team

How to work well with others and keep/ build momentum through productivity as a team.

•DISC Personality Profile and Understanding

Discover the benefit of understanding your coworkers, volunteers and friends to enhance the quality of communication and value of relationships.

•Enrollment Into Next Rooted Session

A ten-week discipleship journey to connect with God, the Church, and your purpose.

•Coaching And Mentoring

Become equipped to help grow, develop and draw out the best from your teams.

•Servant Leadership

Learn to model Jesus through serving others to best lead them.

•Conflict Resolution

Learn to help restore relationships both individually and as a community the biblical way.

•30 Days to Understanding The Bible

Acquire a valuable framework to help navigate scripture effectively to grow individually and pour into others.

•Deep and Wide

Tailored just towards you, learn to apply truth and grace as you look inward and outward to grow God’s kingdom.


Year Two (15+ sessions)

Customized Learning Track tailored for each individual with targeted learning. Example classes:

Discover the significance of the Holy Spirit in our lives, the lives of our teams and the life of the church.

•Philosophy Of Ministry

Begin the process of identifying lifelong thinking for God’s purpose in your life.

•Becoming a 360 degree leader

Learn to lead yourself and the others around you.

•Resume/Profile Development

Build a professional presence that reflects your spiritual maturity and skill set.


Learn the art of becoming a disciple who makes other disciples and a leader who can reproduce other leaders/artists.

•Facilitate a rooted group.

Lead a group through the same ten week discipleship experience from year one.



North Kids K-2 Residency Job Description



The North Kids Residency is an 18-24 month program aimed at developing future leaders within the church, equipped to do high impact ministry.

  1. Purpose: To lead in developing, overseeing, and evaluating the K-2nd Grade Ministry Program at North Church To fulfill the vision, mission, and values of North Church in and through these teams.

  2. Relationships: Reports to the Kids and Family Pastor.


  1. Cast Vision. Develop and communicate vision. Help volunteers know and gain

    ownership of the vision, mission, values of North Kids Ministry.

  2. Leadership. Identify, recruit and develop a team of volunteer leaders who implement

    North Kids K-2nd Grade Program.

  3. Team Building. Assist and coach volunteer leaders in developing and maintaining

    healthy volunteer ministry teams: worship, teaching, drama/engagement, small groups,

    multi-media, and etc.

  4. Volunteer Training. Provide new and existing volunteers and leaders with ongoing

    training and development through the North Kids Leadership Pathway.

  5. Volunteer Appreciation. Encourage, appreciate, and support all leaders and

    volunteers on a regular ongoing basis through multiple mediums.

  6. Administration and Support. Assist in the development of a specific ministry vision,

    goals, objectives, benchmarks, plans, activities, and budgets.

  7. Curriculum. Assist in selecting, ordering, updating, implementing Bible based

    curriculums that communicate our mission, values, and doctrine.

  8. Maintaining Facilities. Oversee the proper equipping, cleanup, and maintenance of

    the K-2nd Grade Classroom. Make recommendations for improvements.

  9. Fun Activities. Oversee the planning and execution of regular activities.

  10. Team Player. Assist in planning and leading North Kids Big Days, live Worship Days, all

    ministry volunteer and leadership events, and etc. Be a team player and have a

    servant’s heart.

  11. Intern Leadership. Guidance and leadership of interns and/or temporary staff for

    seasonal hire aligned with North Church leadership and staffing standards overseen by Kids and Family Pastor.


  1. 20 hours/week; Schedule to be approved by Kids and Family Pastor;

    1. Attend and various All Staff and North Kids Staff Team Meetings.

    2. Attend Coaching Meetings.

  2. Commitment to Personal Growth:

    • Maintain daily devotions and prayer

    • Commitment to personal growth

    • Demonstrate a servant’s heart and responsiveness to evaluations and

      feedback from others

    • Implementation of North Church leadership/development pathways

The Ideal Candidate Will:

- have a degree/partial college/some formal study. - have previous ministry experience.
- have a clear calling to vocational ministry.
- have a passion for Kids knowing Jesus

- have a heart to learn and grow.
- have a passion for people and leadership.

- be 21 or older.
