Job Type: Full-Time

Job Description:

We are seeking a Youth Pastor who will work closely with our volunteers to grow our Junior and Senior High ministries.  The position of YP calls for someone who loves working with youth and can offer them biblical instruction / guidance in a creative and relevant way.   Grace is a non-denominational church in the Dallas Theological Seminary tradition, and we are seeking an individual with similar beliefs and has completed a Bible College or Seminary degree.  Salary will be commensurate with training and experience.

However, we are also open to hiring an Associate Pastor who would feel very comfortable leading the youth ministry but be expected to probably phase out into a purely associate role in time.  This is because we see a likely need for an AP in perhaps just a couple of years.  Besides working with the youth, this position would also entail handling the announcements (w/power points) as well as other small jobs.   The YP would be responsible for leading a Wednesday night and Sunday morning youth meeting (volunteers help with teaching duties for either Wednesday or Sunday morning on a rotation basis), organizing youth events (including retreats, DNOW, and a week-long summer youth project at City Church in Amarillo), and seeking to build relationships with the youth.  Plenty of preaching opportunities would be provided if the individual hired was able to do so--especially if hired as an AP.

The skills and strengths needed would vary somewhat, depending if the person is interested in being a YP or being an AP till we hired a YP.   However, either way we we would want someone who has experience and the ability to teach well in a way that connects with youth.  It is important that the YP is someone who has good organizational / administrative skills, a good work ethic, and the ablility to work well with others.  The YP needs to be someone who is very teachable and able to handle constructive criticism.  Because youth are active, we also would want someone who is athletic to a degree and could interact with the youth in their activities.  Abilities with Praise and Worship would be a plus because the youth have a nice stage and equipment, and we have some musically inclined youth.  We are also most interested in hiring a man who is married (one time) or is single and is soon to be married.
