Job Description:
Role: Director of Finance/HR

Role Type: Full-Time Salary

Responsible to: Director of Operations

Leads Teams: Weekend Counting Teams

Member of Teams: Operations Team

Relates closely with: Directional Leadership Team, Director of Operations, and Elder Board



Support the staff and volunteers of Eastern Hills Community Church as they perform their ministry by providing financial guidance and performing tasks related to financial matters so that direct ministry staff may devote less time to administrative duties while maintaining an informed understanding of the financial aspects of their ministry.


Qualifications for the Position:
  • Minimum of undergraduate degree in related field necessary

  • At least four years of recent, full-time accounting experience including at least one year of fund accounting necessary

  • Proficient in demonstrable skills using Excel spreadsheets necessary

  • Proficient in understanding use of a major software accounting package including design and formatting of new financial reports necessary

  • Experience in multi-campus ministries and related financial oversight preferred

  • Experience in building volunteer support teams across multi-campus environments preferred


  • Financial Reporting:  Supervise monthly closure of financial records, making necessary adjustments and prepare monthly financial statements.

  • Donations:  Supervise Weekend Counting Teams, who process donations including record-keeping, bank deposits, and preparation of donor statements.

  • Accounts Receivable: Perform billing, track receipt of payments.

    • Maintain subsidiary ledgers for activities such as benevolence expense tracking, use tax reporting, fixed asset management and accounting.

  • Accounts Payable:  Process all Accounts Payable invoices, bills, reimbursements, etc. and produce A/P checks weekly.

  • Payroll:  Process all Payroll information to produce P/R checks bi-monthly.

  • Budget:  Prepare budget documents as requested by the Directional Leadership Team during the preparation of the annual budget.

  • Audit:  Maintain audit-oriented record-keeping systems during the fiscal year and prepare information at the request of the auditor for the purpose of conducting the annual audit.

  • Historical Records:  Maintain an archive of church records as required by law and sound management practices.

  • Annual Report:  In conjunction with the Executive Pastor of Ministries and Communications Director, partner in the production of the Annual Report.

  • Compliance:  Serve as the in-house authority related to parameters of fundraising and non-profit guidelines.

  • Expansion:  Assist in the financial viability studies for any potential Eastern Hills expansion or multiplication.

  • Human Resources:  Ensure adherence to state and federal regulations applicable to human resource issues. Maintain HR files as appropriate for church staff and ensure adherence to handbook policies.

    • Manage all aspects of Human Resources:  recruitment, interviews, new hires, orientation, terminations, evaluations, benefits, employment records, salary administration, job descriptions, policies compliance, etc.
