Summary

The Youth Pastor will oversee all student ministry activities. The Youth Pastor will be responsible for recruiting, equipping, and leading student ministry leaders at New Hope. The ministry focus will be under the banner of the second “G” of our mission (GROW) and includes creating and sharing a vision for student ministry in support of New Hope’s overall mission.

2. An ability to create vision and leadership for a ministry that meets the relevant needs of students and their families
3. An ability to recruit, equip, and lead ministry leaders and team members for multiple areas of ministry
4. A self-starter and initiator of assigned tasks, someone who goes beyond minimum expectations
5. A heart for pastoral care for ministry leaders, volunteers, and families with children

 

Position Description

• Design, develop and cast vision for a student-relevant ministry for Students/Youth (6th grade through 12thGrade) that creates an excitement and infectious enthusiasm while introducing them to the basics of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
• Organize the weekly student meeting, creating a relevant space for students to hear teaching, connect with peers, and develop lasting relationships through small groups
• Interact with parents to promote a family friendly ministry and to create awareness 
• Confidentiality and discretion with finances, counseling information and staffing
• Provide a presence of the student ministry of New Hope in the local schools and organizations in town
• Encourage and coach student ministry volunteers to invest in relationships with students
• Oversee the recruitment and training of volunteers who are passionate about leading Students and their families into full devotion to Christ
• Recruit, develop and train student leaders to serve in their area of giftedness
• To participate as a member of the New Hope Staff Team through regular staff meetings and healthy communication
• To support the church wide strategy of GO GROW GIVE through leadership participation
• Contribute and collaborate with the Family Ministries Team to create events for the purpose of growing strong families
• Oversee the student budget with approval through the Family Ministry Pastor
• Provide shepherding and Pastoral Care for the team under your leadership, including a weekly plan for absentee and new guest calls
• Step into other duties as needed and assigned by leadership

 

Education and Experience 

Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university (preferably in children and family ministry or education) or a minimum of three years of related experience/training or equivalent combination of education and experience
