Job Title:      Associate Student Pastor

Reports To:  Student Pastor

Supervises:  Student Ministry Volunteers

 

 

Function:  Work in cooperation with the Student Pastor and under his leadership for events (include large group teaching) involving both middle and high school students. Facilitate and teach Middle School Discipleship Groups and Middle School 180 Connect Groups.  Recruit and help train 180 Connect group leaders for Middle School Connect Groups.  Work in cooperation with the volunteer church leadership.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide visionary leadership to the student ministry in keeping with our church goal of: “Glorifying God by Proclaiming Christ and Making Disciples Across the Street and Around the World”
  • Aid students in connecting with the larger ministry of the church.
  • Serve as a primary teacher in large group settings.
  • Participate in 180 teaching team and provide variety in teaching styles.
  • Facilitate and teach Middle School Discipleship Groups. 
  • Work with the Children’s Pastor to foster a smooth transition from Elementary School into the Student Ministry.
  • Develop community relationships by working with students and teachers in the school setting to be present at Christian clubs on middle school campuses.
  • Work with students/interns who are called to ministry to help prepare them for the work God is calling them to do.
  • Seek out and nurture students to use their leadership skills to serve within the student ministry and other areas of the church.  
  • Provide supervision and leadership to student ministry volunteers in the Middle School ministry including 180 Connect Group leaders and Middle School Discipleship Group leaders.
  • Communicate the direction and activities of the student ministry to parents and church leadership.
  • Regularly inform the student ministry adult leadership of the plans and direction of the student ministries program.
  • Be available to meet individually with students to address needs and concerns students may have.
  • Plan, develop, and implement new ministries as needed.
  • Train students as disciples of Christ to serve Him, grow deeply in their faith and reach out to those who don’t know Him.
  • Participate in 180 teaching team and provide variety in teaching styles.
  • Facilitate and teach Middle School Discipleship Groups. 
  • Recruit and help train 180 Connect group leaders for Middle School Connect Groups.
  • Work in a cooperative team relationship with the pastoral staff.
  • Participate in, plan, and implement large events including UpRising Weekend (Disciple Now Weekend) and camp.  Plan and coordinate missions; international, North American, local. 
  • Perform and assist in other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 1 Timothy 3:1-7
  • Seminary degree preferred
  • Ability to teach in a large group setting with an engaging teaching style 
  • A Christian who models an authentic Christian lifestyle reflecting the highest moral character
  • One who is an active personal witness sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ
  • An attitude of teamwork, flexibility and adaptability
  • Ability to accomplish work with excellence and professionalism
  • Ability to work with people and to equip others for ministry and mission
  • Flexible with work hours to complete the work of Catalyst Student Ministries
