Job Type: Full-Time

Job Description:

About the Organization:

The Ridge began as a traditional Bible church in the 1950s. The church had a rich heritage of Bible teaching and youth ministry. However, the most recent God-led journey for The Ridge began in 2008 and was driven by the vision “to do whatever it takes to reach our community for Christ.” That vision required significant transition in values and strategy.  While many changes were made at a core level, some of the more noticeable ones included changing the name of the church to “The Ridge” in 2008 and relocating in 2012. The church grew during that time from 300 to 1200. Much of that growth has been the result of the vision (people who had not been going to church).

Everything The Ridge does runs through the grid and lens of reaching people.

It is marked by a strong senseof evangelism. Being a church for people who do not like church or who have given up on church is one of their highest values. Connecting people to the church through groups, serving, and giving is also a high value, so that people can become more like Jesus.

The Ridge is a culture where baptisms, first-time guests, salvations, and outreach endeavors are highly celebrated, promoted, and welcomed.

About the Location:

Columbus is a delightful small town (50,000) about 45 minutes south of Indianapolis. Columbus consistently is ranked as one of the top small towns in the United States. Experts from the Travel Channel, National Geographic, and Fodor’s helped compile a list, calling Columbus an “unexpected municipal gem." Forbes also named Columbus as one of the “Best Small Towns to Raise a Family” in November 2010.

Columbus is known for being family-oriented and safe, yet culturally-innovative and diverse, as well as a city with great outdoor space, boasting over 700 acres of greenspace.  Cummins, Inc., a diesel engine manufacturer, is the largest employer in the area. Columbus now serves as the employment base to more mechanical engineers per capita than any other community in the United States, according to the Indiana Business Review in 2015.

Columbus is known globally for its modern architecture and art by renowned architects, landscape architects, and artists. With a number of notable public buildings and art installations in Columbus, it has earned the nickname “Athens on the Prairie.” Columbus might be just another small city except for the vision of local leaders who wanted to make Columbus the best community they could. The results speak for themselves – Columbus is ranked sixth in the U.S. for architectural innovation and design, as noted by the American Institute of Architects.

Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation serves 11,000 students in the Columbus area, with 18 campuses: 11 elementary schools, three high schools, two middle schools, 1 early childhood center, and 1 adult education center.

Regardless of what brings someone to Columbus, the city’s impeccable art, lush landscaping, a first-rate park system, and of course, the outstanding architecture make it a great place to call home.
